I see Valentines day is th day of love and to recognize that special someone in your life.  Doesn't have to be your spouse, can be a parent, sibling, a relative, a child.. And the origins of Valentine's Day comes from Saint Valentino.

The cupid thing is a symbol part of it, the myth goes if he hits someone with his heart shaped arrow that the first person they see they fall in love with.  It is also within a few weeks before Spring when things come to life, love birds and love squirells lol.   But as I said I see Valentine's Day to recognize a day of our loved ones and that love we have for them.
