  It really is a shame because he really
  would have done a great job as President
  and doubtful “but you never know,” might
  by some ‘miracle’ be chosen as VP this
  time around despite all of Trump’s specul-
  ated picks. But as you said, he is young and

That's right.  There is no hurry.
It's possible that he was just testing so to speak.  He was second place.
