in as much that I'd rather have the State's money go to them, rather than to the bloated chilloni Tel Aviv Cameri Theatre, the valueless Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra or to buy guns to arm the PLO in Ramallah, they do seem to typify Chaim's 2nd law!

Needless to say, the ones most irked by their ID fraud are those Haredi mosdos who kept strictly honest records!

The Gemara says that the very first question a soul is asked in Olam Haba is "Were you honest in money matters?", and that there is great consternation among the Angels if the answer is in the negative!

Certainly I agree with you that it is terrible when an Orthodox Jew is involved with dishonesty. It is a chillul Hashem when a supposedly religious Jew is caught stealing or cheating.
But I don't think that we should be concerned with 'the length of the beard' or other things. What they did was shameful and detrimental to the entire Jewish people. Jews of all kinds are capable of very much potential, potential for goodness, kindness, truth, and mercy and potential for bad, wickedness, and evil.
