Jewish Survival

About a month ago, I was having a conversation with a Jewish professor.  I told him that while most Jews are very smart, and hard working as individuals, as a group, they tend to be stupid about issues dealing with their very survival.  I gave as examples the Jewish tendency to be self-hating, vote Democrat no matter what, worship Third World minorities and support Obama. 

The professor disagreed with me. He said that this strategy has worked very well for the Jews since they've outlived other groups that have persecuted/fought them.  He didn't elaborate as to why such a strategy has been successful. 

So while I agree that Jews have outlived the groups that sought to harm them, I just don't understand how appeasing moosies, voting Democrat, worshipping Third World minorities and supporting Obama is a good strategy to ensure survival of the group. 

Any thoughts?

My hunch is that, because Jews are basically very decent and caring people, we'll root for the underdog -- even if that same underdog wants us all dead.  I'm just guessing that we're all suckers for underdogs.  After all, who, more than the Jews, have been the underdogs throughout history?  Who has known more persecution than the Jews throughout history?

Is this too simple an answer?  Probably.  Then I don't know.  I don't understand it either.

It's not a good strategy.  It's a strategy that will lead to national destruction for most groups.  The only reason the Jews are still around is not as a result of this "strategy", but because of the Divine hand.  G-d is showing that in spite of the widespread self-hatred among Jews, He is still capable of keeping a remnant of His people alive in accordance with His promises to them--it is G-d alone, and not Jewish strength or strategy.

I agree and this is an excellent example. G-d has saved our people from being wiped out. However one reason we are few in numbers is because some Jews refuse to utilize their common sense for fear of going against what G-d has commanded, which is to be good and do mitzvot. Many Jews have a false misconception that if they destroy their enemy, they are as guilty as the enemy who wanted them destroyed. This kind of thinking has caused weakness among our people and that is used against them eventually, for example the Jews in Iran are forced to comply with Islamic laws and as a result they now call Israel a Zionest state that has no right to exist. The Jews in Iran have only 2 choices, death or saying what their host's tell them to say. That is one example, here is another of weakness; The Left winged Jews here in America are appeasing the moslems and the socialist government for the sake of
( Feeling Safe ) if they agree with them. Almost the same as the Iranian's Jews only they have a little more freedom here, but what they fail to realize is this is going to come back and bite them in the tuchas eventually and hurt all of us.
I pray that Liberal Jews will wake up and realize that appeasing the enemy is not the way to go, and that it endangers all of our people and they too will suffer with us instead of being rewarded by the enemy.....how can they be educated and not use their common sense is beyond me!
G-d gave us common sense for a reason, it is imperative for our survival.
