Officials in North Korea say they tested out a new type of cruise missile during a series of four launches on Thursday.

Pyongyang claims the missile could strike U.S. and South Korean warships at will if the countries attacked.

The missiles were tested in waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan where U.S. aircraft carriers were participating in joint exercises with South Korea earlier this week.

It’s the fourth time this year North Korea is said to have introduced and successfully tested a new type of missile.
