… a student leader recently warned that  “Hamas & Shariah law have taken over UC Davis.”

Where there is Muslim domination, there is Islamic Jew-hatred.

This hate crime came on the heels of the incident just two days ago: a nazi-like rally against Israel and a push for divestment in Israel (below).

Davis police investigating incident as hate crime

DAVIS, Calif. (KCRA) —A group of Jewish students woke up Saturday morning to find that someone had painted part of their fraternity house with swastikas, graffiti that police are calling a hate crime.

“We think it happened in the middle of the night when we were all asleep,” said Nathaniel Bernhard, vice president of the UC Davis chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi.”It definitely didn’t feel good. You know, we’re a strong brotherhood, proud Jewish community on campus, but it definitely doesn’t feel good to see that.”

The students found two swastikas painted on their house on Russell Boulevard; one was on a wall, the other at the entryway to a door in the back of the property.

A spokesman for the university said its student affairs staff would work with the fraternity members to find out if they need security or counseling.

“This kind of behavior is not only repugnant and a gross violation of the values our university holds dear, it is unacceptable and must not be tolerated on our campus or anywhere else,” UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi wrote in a statement.

For many Jewish students at the school, this is the second of two blows in one week.

Two nights ago, UC Davis’ student government voted to ask the UC Regents to divest from businesses connected to Israel.

The fraternity brothers at Alpha Epsilon Pi said that issue elicited hate speech.

“Right after that happened, there was all sorts of stuff on Twitter and Facebook against Jews and now that there’s this, you know, it’s pretty upsetting,” said Josh Wortsman, a member of the fraternity.

But, it’s not clear whether the activism on campus is connected to the graffiti at the house.

Davis police said it is early in their investigation, but that they could turn to social media to learn more.

“Because people like to post their thoughts on things or what they’ve done,” said Davis police Sgt. Trevor Edens. “And a lot of times, we can use those to piece bits of information together.”

Davis police are urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious near the fraternity house in the early morning hours on Saturday to call them.
