Disabled White Man Attacked on Bus: “You Owe Me for Making My Grandmother a Slave!”

A 27-year-old black man reportedly attacked a 52-year-old disabled homeless man on a Metrobus in Silver Spring, Maryland.

“You owe me for making my grandmother a slave,” he reportedly said to the unidentified man, as “justification” for his assault.

As reported by ABC News outlet WJLA in Washington, D.C., Marquis Evans-Royster first spit in the man’s face — before proceeding to rifle through his victim’s pockets:

The victim remained calm and did his best to ignore the racially motivated comments. However, the confrontation became tenser when Evans-Royster allegedly began to rummage through the victim’s pockets.

A number of bystanders attempted to intervene, prompting Evans-Royster to charge at various passengers, spit in the victim’s face and threaten to douse the victim with a cup full of urine.

Another passenger, Desi Cureton, questioned Evans-Royster’s mental state:

“Who carries around a bottle a urine? If I was the judge, I would send him for mental health evaluation.”

After the driver threatened to call the police, Evans-Royster jumped off the bus, grabbing and tearing off a side-view mirror before fleeing the scene.

Metro Transit Police caught Evans-Royster four days later at another Metro Station.

Seventy-year-old Tyrone Kenney, described by WJLA as “a black man who came of age during the American Civil Rights Movement,” called Evans-Royster’s attack on the disabled man a sign of “the times”:

“It speaks to the state of the times. People are desperate, they’re looking for leadership, they’re looking for guidance, but they’re not getting it at home, they’re not getting it from government.

It’s a period of time I’ve never seen before.”

It’s been suggested the most ominous potential effect of the hyperbolic partisan political rhetoric now gripping America can lead “crazies” to respond with violence.

We saw it with the shooter who drove from Illinois to a Washington, D.C., suburb in June to target Republican lawmakers, as they practiced for the annual Congressional Baseball Game — allegedly because of his hatred for President Donald Trump — did we not?

Past time to tone down a tad?
