Cop hurt as 500 brawl in Sydney bar

Nine people were arrested as police called in back-up to disperse a central Sydney bar brawl involving up to 500 people.
The fight broke out among patrons attending a function at Pontoon Bar about 1.25am today and, at its peak, a police officer was kicked in the head.
"The fight was ... at a nightclub in Darling Harbour," a NSW police spokeswoman said today. "Police requested further assistance to disperse a group of up to 500 people.
"One police officer received minor bruising after allegedly being kicked in the head."
Police arrested seven men and two women at the scene.
The spokeswoman said they would be charged with offences ranging from being armed with intent to commit indictable offence, hindering police, assaulting police and affray.
