I don't speak any Yiddish but my father and mother are fluent in Yiddish though.

About that word tinkerlach.The only thing i can come up with is, that tinker could mean tunker, like in Dutch donker.which means dark.lach in fact means smile.darksmile??

As far as it being a beautiful langauge, to each is own I guess. I personally think it's annoying, but I like Hebrew a lot..
Lach is a plural form in Yiddish not smile.
