OO shot
Slug Round
Slug Round
00 Shot
Slug Round
Remember clear the room with OO with the first shot ( This creates lots of noise and flash and will cause others to jump up) second and third rounds are designed to take out standing/shooting targets. The third round is to clear the area if you engaging more than two targets. The last round is to catch anyone else left standing.
OO is for home defense purposes

I would hesitate to use slugs at short range in a house or apartment. Too much penetration. You can get away with self-defense but whacking a bystander will really cost you!
Slugs and flechettes are good for a bug out situation because they extend the shotgun's range to 100 yards+.

I've shot slugs at a 50 and 100 yard range and I wouldn't want to shoot them in my house.

I've seen the czeck S-ball slugs go through both sides of a 50s vintage car at close range! I'd say they'd go through dry wall like all get-out.

Nonsense. The longer the barrel, the easier it is for an assailant to grab. We're talking about small quarters, not Tony Montana's mansion.
--- Quote from: newman on February 28, 2008, 04:13:07 AM ---Overkill? A defense situation requires stopping power. The shotgun has that in spades. One body hit from a 12g with 00 buck and they go down no matter how big they are or what drugs they've taken.

Yes. The double-O buckshot will kill the intruder. It will then penetrate the walls, killing anything in the next room.
--- Quote from: newman on February 28, 2008, 04:13:07 AM ---Research has shown that the sound of a pump shotgun being 'racked' is recognisable to even those with no weapons experience. The mere sound of the action being pumped will send 99.9 % of do-badders running.

Pumping the shotgun takes precious time that you don't have.
--- Quote from: newman on February 28, 2008, 04:13:07 AM ---"Hundreds of holes in the wall"? What have you actually shot? Buckshot loads fire betweeb 8 and 12 projectiles that spread no more than 6 inches at 'room range'.

Hi-warp said that he was using birdshot for home defence.

Actually I said I was using birdshot, the #9 7/8 oz. load. I am not overly concerned with the spread pattern since, realistically speaking, we are talking about distances of 10-20 feet.
