How's the kick with the pistol grip?

Not bad but I use 20 gauge birdshot shells. It is strictly for home defense.

What size birdshot?

9 shot 7/8 oz. load. I also have slugs that I used at my local range. The range restricted shotguns to slugs only. Unfortunately that range, which was 5 minutes from my home closed and now I have to drive 30 minutes for the closest outdoor range.

Are you sure you want to use birdshot? Isn't that too small? Do you want holes all over the place?
Why not a smaller buckshot?

I went with that load so that it can be used by my wife. If anything happened when I wasn't around I'd like to know that she would be able to handle the shotgun. She feels pretty comfortable with the 7/8 oz. load and I don't mind a lot of holes as long as they're in the guy who breaks into my house.

What about a .38 revolver. Utterly reliable.
