AN off-duty police officer has been shot with a Taser stun gun by fellow officers after becoming involved in a fight with them in Perth's entertainment district.
Two women complained to officers patrolling James Street in Northbridge early this morning that they were being harassed by a group of people.
As the officers took their details, an off-duty sergeant was standing with a group of men nearby.
When he tried to become involved in the situation, the officers advised him to let them deal with the matter.
A third woman then attacked one of the two women and, as police tried to stop the fight, a 30-year-old man became involved prompting police to act to restrain him.
Police allege the off-duty sergeant then pushed one of the officers in the chest, hit another in the face and dragged him to the ground in a headlock.
Another officer then used a Taser gun to subdue him.
A 41-year-old man was arrested and later released on summons to appear in court at a later date on two charges of obstructing police and one of assaulting a public officer.
The sergeant has been stood down from operational duties.
