Well there is a subliminal message in the advertisement it shows most of Mexico over taking into the United States.  That is pretty bad for any product to come up with an ad like this.

It seems the makers of Absolut are getting a backlash they have issued a half baked apology. I don't drink garbage like that anyway.

It was part of Mexico for about 30 years. Before that it was part of New Spain for hundreds of years. Now it's part of The United States for 160 years. There is no connection between the Northern areas of New Spain and Mexico.

I have to ask, where do you get this from? No connection? Maybe the fact that there were Mexicans living in those areas? Once we annexed Northern Mexico all the Mexicans living in those territories became full U.S. citizens. There were millions of them.

They were Spanish, not Mexican. And the natives were American Indians with no relationsip to the natives of Mexico such as The Aztecs.

They were Mestizos. The same people you would find in present day Mexico.
