Any good matza recipes?
« on: April 23, 2008, 11:53:57 PM »
I thought we could share some of the ways we ate mazta during Passover. I'm wanting to try something new.

Here's my contribution:

Matza Pizza
Take the mazta squares and put pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, and finely cut up veggies (like onion, olives, and I like jalapenos). Put it in the oven on a piece of foil and back at 350 until the cheese is barely browning on the edges. It tastes just like thin crust pizza.

Is Matza good with peanut butter?

YES! It would be excellent with peanut butter.
In fact, I would try that with bananas too. It would be very interesting.
Matza goes with everything.

Ashkenazim can't eat that because peanuts are kitniyot (legumes). Sfaradim could eat it if peanut butter was labeled Kosher For Passover For Eaters Of Kitniyot. But you would have trouble finding that outside of Israel. Most kitniyot Passover food comes form Israel since there are many Sfaradim there.

I didn't realize that the two groups followed different religious rules. That's very interesting :)

Could an Ashkenazi Jew eat it with peanut butter when it's not Passover anymore?

I wish my mother would make some matza pizza. I will tell her and see what she says. It sounds sooooo good but its so bad for my diet.
I am urinating on a Koran.

Thanks Yehudit. It's always interesting to learn more about people's religions.

Here's another one. Beat a couple of eggs with a small amount of milk (I add a little cinnamon) in a large bowl. Let the mazta soak up the egg mixture. Then add a little butter to a pan and cook each side like french toast. Once cooked, add a little powdered sugar or maple syrup and enjoy.

I learned this one from an Israeli friend of mine.
