Our Hebrew administrators, OZ77 and DavkaKach are now part of the English staff.

OZ77 is The Maintenance Administrator and DavkaKach is The Global Moderator.

I'm very honored for this, but I'm much too needed at the hebrew forum right now,
so I don't think I'll qualify time wise to be the english admin as well, although davka_kach is the perfect choice.
anyhow, I did take this opportunity to adjust the default forum time to: Eastern Standard Time

so everybody in the east coast,
set your personal time offset to 0,
to do this go to: profile-> Look and Layout Preferences -> Time offset and change to "0" and save.

actually I think it would be a good idea to keep the admin capabilities
in case you need some help with adjusting stuff in the forum,
I've become very familiar with the forum's software...

your call..  ;)

p.s I also added those cool ranks I made in the hebrew forum
for you guys in the english forum, TZ kinda liked it I think,
but the old ones are also on the server if you want the old ranks..

Oz, do you know who upgraded the software to 1.1.1?

Is that why the server was down on Friday? Someone told me it was down.

I have no idea WHAT happened on Friday but IT WAS WEIRD!
it wasn't the forum because all the jtf pages were not showing,
on the other hand everything on the server was perfect,
so either the affirmative action morons did something wrong,
or there was some sort of a DNS/domain issue.

luckily at the end of the day it was solved,
but the server was running just fine at the time,
people were just not being directed to the pages in it..

Who upgraded to 1.1.1? Was it just JTF or all domains on the webhost that JTF uses?

no I did not,
as to your 2nd question I don't know
I didn't check, I suspect it was just us.

What is Tzalash HaYamin HaAmiti?

in English it means "The JTF citation",
it's a small temporary rank of appreciation
given to a member who made a major contribution at that time.

here I called it "JTF wings"
you can use it in any way you want,
either as a permanent thing or temporary.

you add it the same way you add an admin or a global mod,
of course it has no managing permissions at all - it's just for show  :)

There was one other special rank you gave that was also an abbreviation. What was it and what did it mean?

Why don't those ranks exist anymore?

What does Tzalash stand for?

that one was the Kahane citation and usually given for a month
instead of 1 week - that one is for extra special contributions
like when "zelhar" wrote the hebrew wikipedia article, and the rest is history..

They all exist in the admin panel,
just waiting for the right person to earn them,
and hopefully this will happen soon.

TZALASH stands for TZI'YUN LA SEHVACH
TZI'YUN means to commemorate or to note (if you will)
LA SEHVACH means to congratulate or to praise someone or something like that...

basically in the army here TZALASH is an army citation...
like the one you get when you do something extraordinary

The server was down because the "affirmative action" morons did not notify us properly that they decided to change everyone's IP for security reasons. They sent us a notice saying it would affect certain IPs, but we were not among the IPs listed. However, when the change was made, we were affected despite the notice that never listed our IP in the range of IPs that were to be changed. Our web site was down for half a day because of these idiots.

As far as the change to 1.1.1, our web master did it.
