I know the kid that was attacked in this story.  He is a skinny little guy who did not deserve this from this overgrown schmuck.  I hope the members of this forum from Serbia and their friends hunt him down and string him up.

A Serbian consular official who went upstate to bail out a compatriot suspected in a vicious beating has disappeared after allegedly helping the brute flee the country, officials said yesterday.

Vice consul Igor Milosevic "was the bagman here and we know he is MIA," said an official briefed on the effort to bring suspect Miladin Kovacevic, 20, back to the United States to face trial.

Kovacevic, a 6-foot-9, 260-pound center for Binghamton University's basketball team, allegedly beat a much smaller fellow student - Bryan Steinhauer, of Brooklyn - in a May 4 bar brawl.

Kovacevic flew back to his native Serbia out of Newark Airport after Milosevic plunked down $100,000 to bail him out on June 6, US officials said.

The diplomat had allegedly furnished Kovacevic with an emergency passport after Kovacevic's was confiscated.

"We don't know if [Milosevic] was a rogue guy in the embassy or if it was ordered from high up," said Sen. Charles Schumer.

"I've never seen anything like this and Serbia has to be made to realize that if they hide this guy and don't return him, there will be serious consequences."

Serbian media reported that Kovacevic's parents - wealthy physicians who live in a suburb of Belgrade - gave Milosevic the money.

"His father is a doctor and seems to have well-connected friends that made phone calls and were able to get this special passport," said Binghamton Police Sgt. Arnold Nanni.

Both the FBI and Interpol issued warrants for Kovacevic's arrest yesterday. Authorities were also looking into whether Milosevic - a career diplomat - could be charged.

"He could be charged with aiding a fugitive, but there are tons of issues of diplomatic immunity," said Paul Holstein of the FBI's Albany field office.

Officials at the Serbian consulate in Manhattan told The Post that Milosevic was on vacation.

It was unclear if Milosevic is related to Serbia's late war-criminal dictator Slobodan Milosevic.

Consul General Slobodan Nenadovic declined to comment and officials at both the country's UN Mission and Washington, DC, embassy did not return calls.

Meanwhile, Steinhauer, 22, remains in a medically induced coma.

He suffered severe head injuries when Kovacevic and pals, Edi Dzubur, 24, and Santel Softic, 21, allegedly stomped Steinhauer in the fight at Rathskeller's bar after the victim danced with a girlfriend of one of the assailants.

"They just started beating the crap out of him," Nanni said. "There was no need for them to do that. They stomped on his head and beat him up. The victim is about 5-foot-6. You see how big [Kovacevic] is."
