Gerald is extremely lucky he didn't lose his eyes.   They need to put out a reward for the Ape.  Someone will turn him in.

It's very hard to be insulated from this.  If you're middle class, you'll be probably be working in areas that aren't too good.   We're in a lot of trouble.

In this day and age, you can't close a store by yourself.     

 
Paying  two employees to stay late every night would put many small stores out of business.

You need two people, always.   They should at least have a canister of mace in the store.  Hand guns would make a difference, but most people aren't licenced to carry.

It breaks my heart.   Gerald fought in the Korean War, and works even at the age of 77.  And some stinkin schvartza knifes him in the eyes in his store.
