Georgian were Christians well before Russians - by 327 Georgia has completed its conversion. Georgians practice Eastern Orthodox branch of Christianity. Needless to say, Georgia's proximity to the epicenter of islam has yielded tremendous suffering and strifes for Georgian people.
The territory of Abkhazia and Osetia always belonged to Georgia, they are as Georgians as Kosovo is Serbian and as Judea is Jewish. We must support Georgians in their struggle against Russian antiSemities. Georgia was acting in its legal boundaries. Medvedev, the new Russian president just needed a new war to establish himself, similar to Putin's war against Chechen's animals. Only this time, Russia is acting against our natural allies.

What pisses me off is WHY, such talented, noble people as Georgians could not prepare much better for the Russian onslaught?! Russian acted predictably. They could have taken many a point from Hezbollah and from Israeli advisors. They could have put up a much better resistance to shake Russian confidence which, I doubt, would sustain that many casualties. Georgians were always famious for their elan.
All in all, I hope Saakashvili will learn his lesson and build a formidable miliatry and a healthy economy - Georgians are more than capable of that.
