In the book, Prof Toaff describes the multilation and crucification of a two-year-old boy to recreate Christ's execution at Pesach, the Jewish Easter. The festival marks the fleeing of the Jews from Egypt and Prof Toaff says Christian blood was used for "magic and therapeutic practices."

In some cases the blood was mixed with dough to make the azzimo, unleavened bread, eaten at Pesach.

He says the acts took place in northern Italy, around the city of Trento in German-speaking areas that border modern-day Austria.

Prof Toaff bases his book on confessions he says came from Jews captured and put on trial for the practice, which took place from 1100 and 1500.

He writes that several confessed to the crucifixion of Christian children and that they were executed.

However, the claims were condemned by Jewish leaders in Rome. Their declaration read: "There has never existed in the Jewish tradition any ritual involving human blood. It is improper to use the declarations extracted under torture hundreds of years ago to construct theories as original as they are aberrant.

"The only blood split in these stories was that of many innocent Jews killed for unjust accusations."

However, Prof Toaff, who teaches at the Bar Illan University near Tel Aviv, responded: "This declaration is a disgrace, before judging they should have read my book and then saved themselves the bother." </blockquote>

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I read the original UK article, which stated only that the book details all of the confessions to "blood libel" accusations made under torture carried out on falsely accused Jews by Church officials & others.

However, the sensationalist Marxist-Internationalist UK media uses the headline and the clever word-crafting in its sentence structure to give one at a quick glance the impression that the entire book is an admission to all of the infamous "blood libel" leveled at Jews during the Middle Ages.

They even edited the response of the author to a mere snippet of his entire statement; again to seemingly make it as if he gladly defamed his own people.
What in fact he said was "...if anyone had so much as bothered to actually read his book prior to reviewing it and making judgement, there would be no uproar..." [my paraphrase of his statement].

It appears to me that the guilty parties in this uproar are in fact the spreaders of Jew-hate propaganda in almost the entire UK media (which in fact is directed by the UK intelligence services from on high).

I the undersigned call for the immediate termination of Professor Ariel Toaff from Bar Ilan University and other affiliated institutions. With his actions Mr. Toaff has libelously and callously blackened the name of the Jewish people motivated by naked greed and ambition. It is a shame and disgrace for a distinguished Institution as Bar Ilan University-which is named after the great Jewish defender Rabbi Meir Bar Ilan- to have a person advancing vicious anti-semitic falsehoods on its faculty. Please terminate him immediately.

However, he believes that Jews may have sometimes killed their neighbors in revenge for anti-Semitic attacks.

I don't know if that is true, but they certainly should have killed their neighbors, and everyone having anything to do with the pogroms. We know from Scripture that unified and dedicated Jewry, no matter how badly outnumbered by the pagans oppressing them, is a formidable and ferocious foe at all times. If the Jews had fought back during the pogroms and inquisitions, there might never have been a Holocaust.
