Even though half-Sefaradi himself, Chaim has not been afraid to endanger himself in calling Rabbi Ovadiya Yosef "a degenerate moron" and "Ovadiya Kessef", even though he's revered by almost all Sefards as the "godol hador" and final posek in all Halchic matters.

And Yosef ben Meir has called Shas "the unbelievably evil Shas party" for its support of Land for Peace & its corruption.

Anything that muddies the waters and helps to expose the corruption of the Israeli political system, in particular the Haredim, can only be for the good!

IT's a sad situation, there is very little that shas has done to help Israel...many non religious and less religious Israelis have gotten a bad taste in their mouths due to their corruption and now assume that religious or not, every man can be evil.  And it's sad because Judaism is a beautiful thing..but has to be carried out properly...These Shas people have acted inappropriately and have harmed the standing and respect that decent religious Jews respect.  It's time to snuff out evil behind every rock...within outwardly religious and outwardly secularists within Israeli and American society.

Do not forget that the Sefardi Jews lived 1000 years amongst Arabs, and have become somewhat arabised. When they first came to Israel, the Sefardim were called  mistaravim - "Arabised Jews".

The Sefardi Jew, even if he's been in Israel 3 generations, still thinks somewhat like an Arab. This has it's pros and cons.

Those Jews like Ovadia Yosef, who was born in old Iraq, are really Arabised.

Even though he knows Torah, Yosef prefers the company of reasonable Arabs than to be with brutha Haredim of the Ashkenazic persuasion! Hence he's prepared to cede land to Arabs - even to share Jerusalem - "Land for Peace" like Kohen Godol Shevna -also a great Torah scholar.

Nevertheless according to the Talmud they and all their devotees are both still labelled by Hashem as a kesher reshoyim!

Shas as a movement has been corrupt...and Torah scholars should put themselves to shame for their corruption since they are supposed to be tzaddik. They misrepresent righteous religious Jews and hurt Judaism even more!
