For those of you who prefer to download videos rather than watching them stream over the Internet, below is the easiest way to do it.

Download and install Firefox:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/When you download videos from Google, it will give you the option to save it as a FLV (Flash), AVI or MP4 video. I choose MP4, as it seems to be the most compatible with various players.
The files from YouTube are always FLV. To convert them to a different format (e.g., WMV or AVI), download and install the free Riva FLV Encoder:
