I also think that McCain won the debate.  In the pre-debate analysis there were people saying that Obama was going to try to get under McCain's skin and make him mad.  But in the debate McCain never lost his composure.  It was Obama who looked like he was getting frustrated and a few times it seemed like he was about to forget all his coaching, pull out a switchblade, and mug McCain.

At a rally he once said .."If they bring a knife, we'll bring a gun"

I was disappointed with McCain's performance at the debates. He did not do a good job. Watching the debates reinforced my disgust for both candidates. McCain did not answer the questions and had to continuously break the rules of the debate by interrupting the moderator with talk about gibberish. I even thought that Obama was right when it came to striking Porkistan. If Osama wasn't so evil, I would vote third party again for this election.
I hope Sarah Palin does a better job next week. Hopefully she can take over McCain's responsibilities as soon as McCain is seen unfit for his new job. I don't want four years of either candidate.

McCain missed many golden opportunites to hit Obama hard.
If he doesn't take the gloves off, we're done.

I thought McCain did better than Obama, though I agree that he missed a few opportunities to hit Obama hard.  I have no appreciation for all this "politeness" and I would have liked to have seen McCain call Obama a stupid idiot just once.  Wouldn't that have been nice?  Had McCain said, "I'm sorry Jim.  I can't debate with this moron.  He's beneath me."  I would have loved to see that.

By the way, to hear all of the media spin it in Obama's favour made me nauseous.

I got the impression that Wright ads were going to air soon.
And other associations hopefully.
They better start soon.

I highly doubt that the McCain campaign will air Jeremiah Wright Advertisements.

That would have hurt McCain, especially as they've been trying to portray Obama as the arrogant one.

I do not understand why he does not listen to the Dick Morris's and Sean Hannitys and use the information that they keep hammering on the show, and about all the negatives regarding Obama. Revrand Wright, Bill Ayers, Rezko and how he got his house etc. They need to discuss this so that all the people sitting on the fence might say he is to radical for them to vote for.

Exactly. This is the only way that McCain can win. Looks at how successful Hillary was in defeating him.

I was not satisfied with McCain's performance.

I agree! McCain looked and sounded robotic, working of sound bites, just once, on the subject of Israel he sounded refreshing. Obama looked presidential, relaxed and had put his arguments forward better. What McCain needed to do is not to score on points, but to have a knock out. Obama did not stay on the ropes and effectively jabbed McCain. Both looked very unimpressive, but McCain not only failed to deliver a blow to BHO, he failed even to win on points - I think Obama outperformed him.

While watching this debate, one thought I had in mind, how great it would be if Hunter, Huckabee or Romney were there instead of McCain - they would have wiped the floor with Bongo.

Also, listening to Palin/Couric interview, I could not help but wonder - why does Palin need to sound like a sound bite board. Where is her personality? Why can't we get a moment of Reagan where, forgetting all the niceties, she would put an interviewer in his or her rightful place with a simple joke or an emphatic indignation?
I think republican chances are very slim.

I agree with you!  I'm no politician, but the ads are for attacking him.  During the debate, when McCain said more than once, "Sen. Obama does not understand," and then he went onto say, "Sen. Obama doesn't understand the difference between a strategy and _____ whatever the word was, i forgot.

It doesn't matter how good McCain is.  He is a Republican.  Morons interviewed by Frank Luntz, a pollster, who conducted a poll in Nevada, got this response from the undecideds [in my view, indecisive.  how hard is it to see who the good guy is.  that's how dumb most of these voters are.  why would anyone want to live under a dictatorship.  this rat wants to change the constitution to suit his socialist, Marxist, belief system:

"He was antagonistic [McCain.] there were more idiotic statements but i can't remember them.

McCain was probably tired from working on the bailout.  He's 72.  Obama is a much younger man.

McCain and Palin have a tough opponent.  He is devious and i'm exhausted from this, can you imagine how they must be feeling, fighting off attacks non-stop.

He is disgusting:

Emboldened Democrats—including Sen. Barack Obama—are forcefully pushing an unapologetically interventionist line, stating repeatedly, in as clear terms as possible, that capitalism is the problem and government is the solution. It's the sort of stark rhetoric Democrats have mostly avoided for the past 12 years, but they feel they can get away with in the light of the Republican administration's accelerating march towards nationalizing the financial sector.

Fox & Friends polled 100,000 people and McCain is the winner.  Even Dr. Lamont Hill from Temple University, an Obama supporter said McCain is the winner of the 1st debate!

Obama didn't make any sense with anything he was saying..

in teh meantime they make fun of palin's intelligence, but dont' bother on making fun of Obama's BS...which is his whole campaign.
If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.
