Israeli students lagging behind in math, science

American Eighth graders came in ninth out of 48 in mathematics despite the 40% of eight graders being non-White and non-Asian. Israel came in 24th out of 48. I don't think the low Arab achievement excuses their poor performance when the United States, which has a bigger minority problem, can do so much better. http://nces.ed.gov/timss/table07_1.asp

I think american blacks are 13 % of the US population, but Muslim Arabs are 18 to 21 percent of the Israeli population outside of Yesha.

In addition I think Blacks are much more intelligent then Muslim Arabs from Israel. In my country this kind of people (so called Palestinians) has the lowest employment rate of all. A lot of them are not literate.

There were studies about this kind of people and it is said, that nearly third of them are mentally ill because they are incest children.

Blacks can at least read and write.

Blacks are a higher percentage of eight graders because the non-whites have more children than whites so the young demographic is more non-white. There are many Hispanics and other third world students who do even worse in school than Blacks because they can't comprehend English.

Maybe it's all the gay pride parades, communism, leftwing (don't worry everyones a winner mentality), liberal environment Israelis live in.

White Israelite,   what you mentioned is very much along the lines of my line of thinking on this topic.

Liberalism/ Socialism/ Communism take away a substantial part of incentive to succeed.       If Israel and the United States had capitalism oriented governments,    eliminating affirmative action practices,      both countries would prosper at a far greater level than has been the case in a very long time.
"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )

Really? I thought the opposite. I was/ am worried that in Israel one has to work a lot to make a living. If this is true then I personally think it is good. Anyway who cares about test scores? These things dont ultimatly matter. What matters is if people are being good people or not (and of-course we want to make good Parnasa, but also to enjoy life and not be soo bogged down by work all the time).
The Academy of Elijah taught, whoever studies the laws (of the Torah) every day, (he) is guaranteed to have a share in the World to Come.

‏119:139 צִמְּתַתְנִי קִנְאָתִי כִּישָׁכְחוּ דְבָרֶיךָ צָרָי
My zeal incenses me, for my adversaries have forgotten Your words.
‏119:141 צָעִיר אָנֹכִי וְנִבְזֶה פִּקֻּדֶיךָ, לֹא שָׁכָחְתִּי.
I am young and despised; I have not forgotten Your precepts.

" A fool does not realize, and an unwise person does not understand this (i.e. the following:) When the wicked bloom like grass, and the evildoers blossom (i.e. when they seem extremly successful), it is to destroy them forever (i.e. they are rewarded for their few good deeds in this World, and they will have no portion in the World to Come!)

kahane mentioned that taxes are so high in israel, and there is such excessive regulation to set up a company, that often people don't bother. Some israelis that don't work in israel, come to america start a business and work 15 hours a day.. (obviously the israeli was not a really frum jew setting aside time for torah study, but you get the point)
