Child says "I have to kill the Israeli occupation":
from official Hamas kids website on US server

January 3, 2008 As Israel launches its ground offensive of Gaza, the official Hamas websites continue to operate in the United States, including one aimed at young children, which features the word Gaza written in Arabic over an animated image of barbed wire dripping in blood. The image below shows graphic photos of injured children, and again has the word Gaza in a font that appears to be dripping blood.


The contents of the magazine are clearly intended to inflame the sentiments of those who read it, including its target audience of children.

One of the feature articles shows how a young boy reacts to the events in Gaza:

"I have to kill the Israeli occupation and break the siege of Gaza. Oh father - the children! The children are dying in Gaza, and all are silent."

Those are the words of a young boy in a short story about current events in Gaza featured on the newest release of the Hamas children's online magazine, al Fateh, released on January 1, 2009.

The story features a young boy named Walid. His parents notice Walid is not with the rest of the family when they sit down for tea, and after he fails to respond when they call his name, the father goes off in search of him. He finds the boy dressed in a pretend-miltary hat and clothing carrying a plastic weapon.

The father asks Walid what he is doing, and he responds with the comment above. Walid father echos the child's statement, telling him "Children are dying and the world is silent".

Another article in this issue include a discussion between a grandfather and his grandchildren, who ask him to dress up and play Santa Claus. The grandfather dismisses Santa Claus as a myth to the youngsters.

The editorial note refers to the "heinous massacre of Gaza", and another article celebrates the life of a young man by the name of Asim, who killed himself carrying out a suicide attack in 2001 against an Israeli bus as it approached a busstop.

The Hamas online children's magazine just published the 139th edition on its website at http://alfatehmag.net, hosted on US servers in Scottsdale AZ belonging to GoDaddy. The magazine has been published online since 2002, originally using the domain al-fateh.net which is currently hosted in Moscow and which redirects to the alfatehmag.net URL). We've written about this website several times in the past - see http://www.lauramansfield.com/j/04112006_fateh.asp.

The magazine is somewhat popular in the Arabic-speaking world, as shown in the graphic above from Alexa.com.

According to the US Treasury, "the U.S. designated HAMAS as a terrorist organization pursuant to Executive Order 12947 in 1995 and as a foreign terrorist organization in 1997. HAMAS was also designated a 'specially designated global terrorist' under E.O. 13224 in 2001."

Executive Order 12947, signed in January 1995 by US President Bill Clinton, states: "any transaction or dealing by United States persons or within the United States in property or interests in property of the persons designated in or pursuant to this order is prohibited, including the making or receiving of any contribution of funds, goods, or services to or for the benefit of such persons" and "For the purposes of this order: (a) the term ‘‘person’’ means an individual or entity; (b) the term ‘‘entity’’ means a partnership, association, corporation, or other organization, group, or subgroup"

Given the automated process for purchase and provisioning of webhosting space used by most ISPs including GoDaddy, it is likely http://www.lauramansfield.com/subscribers/ is not aware that they are hosting Hamas websites. We have contacted GoDaddy regarding this but have not yet received a response from them.
