Americas health care system is the most expensive because it is being made to pay for people that don't pay a penny into it and demand services similar to people paying thousands of dollars a year in medical insurance or fees. In order to cover all the people in the give me give me crowd what do we have to take away from the paying customer? It really is becoming sickening mentality. People that pay their mortgages have to pick up the slack for the over extended that don't. People that have paid the medical insurance all their lives will have procedures denied them to spread the resources to people who never paid a cent into the system. Where is the incentive to do better. I guess in a decade or so only the feeble minded will  strive to get ahead. Why sweat it with the new redistribution of wealth mentality sweeping the country it's time for everyone to jump on the band wagon and have a life of ease.

I think society must supply medical care to poor sick people. Lets rephrase your question: "Should poor sick people be left without treatment and die ?"

I agree. I voted for, because it doesn't make sense that public school is free. What makes education any more important than health? People who are lower-class should not be allowed healthcare because they can't afford it, but they should be able to send their kids to school for free and that's accepted by the world? Who writes this sh*t?

The reason why nearly everyone is fine with subsidizing education... ISNT because of fairness.. its because their is a HUGE cost to having a giant uneducated class...  like they have in Mexico.    Its the same reason why we request that kids get vaccinated... so the kids dont become a health burden for the rest of us in the long run.   (However... this doesnt mean that we should educate or vaccinate illegals... obviously we should throw them out, and close the borders.

Basic education is free here in America because people need to be able to function to a certain level to be a productive part of society. Local government has clinics at many state run hospitals set up for the poor to obtain basic medical care at little or no cost.  I don't think anyone in need is left to die. The problem is this is not good enough for the poor they want everything in the pot even if it means that they get it at the expense of others.

I oppose it. If the country were only inhabited by productive citizens who worked hard and contributed to society except for those with true medical reasons why they were unable to work, then I think it would be ok to give them some help. However right now we've got too many leeches on the system which would make this way too expensive. Plus socialism isn't good because even if there are no leeches then socialism can attract them. The last thing we need is something that attracts millions more illegals.

I oppose but there should be some basic care for people who fall into hard times. Perhaps immunizations and other cheap treatments could be given across America for less.   Cancer patients, BTW, live 5-10 years longer in the USA than in countries with socialized medicine.  What makes people think that health care companies are for the bottom line and profit and the government wouldn't make the same decisions when faced with balancing budgets?

When middle class gets sick, they become poor. When poor gets sick- they become... sicker.

Correct me if I am wrong. Don't the Communist Countries run universal health care?
Communist Countries stripped their citizens of freedom and give them health care
and long lines for bread, dairy products, etc.
I would think that if someone is really sick, they could die waiting in line for bread to eat before they get to the hospital to perhaps die in line again waiting for the health care.
Universal health care is not a good idea, our Country has services for those
who are truly needy, health care included.
Communists pretend to run universal health care. They dress some proletarians in white robes and let them play doctors and nurses. Do you know Americans lives are a couple of years shorter than countries who do have universal health care- like Austria, Switzerland, the nordic countries... And also American health care is the most expensive, not just the services, you pay more for drugs than other countries.

Thats because our diet is horrific and we have a much higher percentage of blacks.

If our health care is bad like you say... why exactly do Canadian's near our border buy OUR health care and go to OUR hospitals rather than use their own WONDERFUL health care.

YES!!! our PUBLIC hospitals are horrific... which is why I included that option of a purely private alternative.
Canadians get 3 extra years of life compare to Americans and they also have blacks and immigrants. I suppose the Canadians you refer to are rich folk, and I don't disagree that rich people can buy in America the best treatment. Switzerland also offers premium health care to the rich of the world don't it ?

Govt is the problem and Universal Healthcare is a flawed system. It is a good concept but it is something that the United States isn't ready for. It will kill the Healthcare market, and if there is competition in the Healthcare market, then the prices will go down and the American will be able to acquire it. That my friend is Capitalism.
Capitalism and competition works well for cars and shirts but health care is different.

It works fine for Car insurance. And it will work fine for Health insurance.

I oppose.
When I was a child, my mother took me to a doctor and paid $20.
Today, I go to a doctor and I pay $20 and my insurance pays $140.

capitalism is what makes this country work. It is in our culture to strive for excellence if there is going to be a reward for it. However, I do believe in an ethical capitalism and not just capitalism... look what happens to big corporations and the greed?

For physicians to strive to their excellent standards, they cannot be forced to see 1000 patients a day to be able to feed their family and live adequately.  The stress they go through from premedical through their internships and tuition costs does not deserve for them to go through this socialized medicine that our current leaders are shooting for.  If anything, our government leaders should get the pay cut and not the hard working individuals in this country.  Socialism begits communism which begets totalitarianism which begets revolutions and world wars that lead to millions of needless deaths and a bad feeling in everyone's heart.

The capitalist system in this country needs to be fixed with stronger ethical standards.  It isn't right the richest become even richer...while they have a right to be rich for their deft and hard work, they need to realize they are Gd because they have so much money and power...that they need to answer to a higher being and give a significant amount of around 10% of their earnings back to society as a tithe to legitimate causes to help the honest nonlazy hard working poor Americans who love this country.
If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.

I agree totally. Ethical standards used to be the unwritten rule that businesses/capitalism followed. Now that we are essentially in a culture with no standards, naturally business practices followed suite, and thus, the chain reaction of financial collapse. For business to be conducted sucessfully from here on, those old unwritten rules, must now become the written law of the land with severe penalties for those that break them.

I think a real old fashioned Manchester liberalism is the best for the health system, like it is the best for the rest of the economy.

The standarts you mentioned, Dr. Dan, are at best assured by the market.

Of cause the gouvernment has to set certain ethical standarts. But this is common sense.

I am shure patients will go to the doctor, who is offering the best proportion of quality and price.

The quack doctors will not succeed in a really free health-care market, because life and health are two merchandises that stand far abouve others in the eyes of the consumer.

I agree with this completely...unfortunatley this land is ruled by Gdless people who will complain that these unwritten rules are too relgious for our country...however, this country was founded on Gd's principles...

I can't stand these Gdless people who fear religion...ugh! IT's all their fault!
