I think society must supply medical care to poor sick people. Lets rephrase your question: "Should poor sick people be left without treatment and die ?"

In favor? WTF?

"Universal Healthcare" is taking the Doctors and the Hospitals, and running them like the Department of Motor Vehicles, or the Post Office, or any other miserable government bureaucracies, get ready to wait in pain for 6 months and more for operations, get ready to watch people die waiting for treatment, get ready for stupidly unnecessary suffering and indignities.

Universal healthcare will cause good doctors to become bad doctors...and cause patients to become over medicated rather than treated properly for their ailments.  As it stands, many factory type doctors' offices run like this.

If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.

No where in America is a person denied Health Care because of inability to pay!!!
The so-called poor people in America have better health care services than the insured do. i.e. If you have a SSI Benefits Card (welfare), you have Medicaid, making the person eligible for health care at NO COST... This is insane!
Medicaid and Medicare have ruined the once prosperous nation... people should have to pay what they use, not for what their neighbor is using, or some illegitimate shwarter.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE WHO VOTED IN FAVOR OF IT?!?!
JTFers are supposed to be smarter than that!!!

Unless those who were voting were doing so sarcastically, as if it would be feasible to have "universal healthcare" in la-la land with unicorns and cotton candy made from rainbows and sparkles.

I was really expecting a 100% on this.

Maybe this should be rephrased?

option 1:   Free-market health care
option 2:   Public hospitals for poor
option 3:   subsidized health insurance for poor (would be used for private healthcare)
option 4:   subsidized health insurance for ALL
option 5:   socialized health care

People who do not have medical insurance and can't pay for the treatment should not expect much more than the basic of life sustaining treatment. What makes people feel that medical treatment is a G-D given rite? Its getting to the point where it pays to be a lazy shiftless animal and live off the fat of the land.

A two tiered system is the best option.  Some things should be available publicly.  Everything should be available privately.

option 1.  Free market.

For the poor, there will be PRIVATE, VOLUNTARY, (religious, more often than not) CHARITIES.

If society did not provide care to the sick and poor there would be dead people laying in the streets everywhere.
Most people that cannot afford health care are taken care of at emergency rooms, it is the State law that no one can be turned away in any medical emergency at any hospital. Now about regular health care, that is different and they can be turned away if they have no insurance or Medi Cal. I think the people who suffer most are the middle class who cannot afford health care, but as I said, in an emergency they can get treatment, more so if it is life threatening.
I don't think Universal health care would be a good idea, the quality of care will be almost non existent and people could die from that alone.

I am against it. As I see it now all the illegals and humps(people who don't want to work) have it. Medicare they all  have it along with foodstamps(ebt). I know working poor people want it, but I do not want a doctor or a guide line list of what or how long I have to wait to get better.

Correct me if I am wrong. Don't the Communist Countries run universal health care?
Communist Countries stripped their citizens of freedom and give them health care
and long lines for bread, dairy products, etc.
I would think that if someone is really sick, they could die waiting in line for bread to eat before they get to the hospital to perhaps die in line again waiting for the health care.
Universal health care is not a good idea, our Country has services for those
who are truly needy, health care included.

Communists pretend to run universal health care. They dress some proletarians in white robes and let them play doctors and nurses. Do you know Americans lives are a couple of years shorter than countries who do have universal health care- like Austria, Switzerland, the nordic countries... And also American health care is the most expensive, not just the services, you pay more for drugs than other countries.

Our Country needs to deport every illegal alien and give the Middle class American citizens the health care that the illegals were getting.
That would balance things out.

Thank you.  Of course this is not my idea, nor is it anything new.
Moreover, these PRIVATE, VOLUNTARY, USUALLY RELIGIOUS CHARITIES are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH more effective/comprehensive with healthcare than ANY government could ever hope to be.

Whatever happened to Individualism in this country? What ever happened to "If you dont work, You dont eat?" So you want the govt to solve all of our problems? You want the U.S. to conform to eastern European socialist policies? I will be damned if I stand back and watch individualism and capitalism be dismantled, the principles of America be dismantled.

Thats because our diet is horrific and we have a much higher percentage of blacks.

If our health care is bad like you say... why exactly do Canadian's near our border buy OUR health care and go to OUR hospitals rather than use their own WONDERFUL health care.

YES!!! our PUBLIC hospitals are horrific... which is why I included that option of a purely private alternative.

Govt is the problem and Universal Healthcare is a flawed system. It is a good concept but it is something that the United States isn't ready for. It will kill the Healthcare market, and if there is competition in the Healthcare market, then the prices will go down and the American will be able to acquire it. That my friend is Capitalism.

Americas health care system is the most expensive because it is being made to pay for people that don't pay a penny into it and demand services similar to people paying thousands of dollars a year in medical insurance or fees. In order to cover all the people in the give me give me crowd what do we have to take away from the paying customer? It really is becoming sickening mentality. People that pay their mortgages have to pick up the slack for the over extended that don't. People that have paid the medical insurance all their lives will have procedures denied them to spread the resources to people who never paid a cent into the system. Where is the incentive to do better. I guess in a decade or so only the feeble minded will  strive to get ahead. Why sweat it with the new redistribution of wealth mentality sweeping the country it's time for everyone to jump on the band wagon and have a life of ease.

Americans' life styles are also different from the Swiss.  More Americans I assume are OBESE, sit and watch TV all day long, do recreational drugs etc.

And where are all these subsidized drugs coming from?  Where were they invented?  A lot were invented in the US.  Suppose the US were to mandate drug companies to lower their prices to next to nothing.  How many companies would be bankrupted?  How many new medicines would NOT be developed?
Oh and with those companies bankrupted, the FREE-RIDER PARASITE socialized/subsidized medicine countries will have to DO WITHOUT.

It all goes back to the SIMPLE truth that MONEY DOES NOT GROW ON TREES.
Wonder drugs do not magically appear at the wave of a fairy's wand.
People are unhealthy for a variety of reasons.

400lb Americans who are sitting on a $3,000 couch watching their $2000 flat screen TV with $100/month cable have VOLUNTARILY gained the extra 200lbs, have voluntarily shelled out thousands of dollars on "entertainment" and then decide they "can't afford" health insurance, and "don't have the time" to exercise.  Nor do they go to the grocery store to buy lettuce and carrots.  They go to a "drive-thru" fast food restaurant, or order pizza from their aforementioned couch.

Wah-wah Americans as a whole are less healthy than Japanese/Swiss.  It has little to nothing to do with how "expensive" health care is in America.
