Definitely some irony here.

The most important thing to notice here is how the media reacts to an Irish Republican attack and a Muslim attack.  You won't find anyone asking us to "understand the RIRA" and understand the problems of "disenfranchised young Irishmen."  They will be just called terrorists.

Murdered British soldier Patrick Azimkar: the would-be footballer who was ready for war
Life for Sapper Patrick Azimkar, one of the two British soldiers shot dead in Northern Ireland, might have been very different.

Described by his officers and schoolmates alike as fiercely competitive, his talents on the football field were enough to impress the scouts at Tottenham Hotspur, near his home in north London, who gave him a trial for the club when he was in his teens.

But the dream of life as a top flight footballer did not materialise – in the end it would be his brother James, 25, whose career would carry a taste of glamour, as a model.

Instead he chose a career in the Army, signing up for the Royal Engineers three years ago, joining 38 Engineer Regiment.

Impressing his superiors as a young soldier full of energy and "true grit", he was already earmarked for possible promotion to become a Non Commissioned Officer on his return from his planned six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan.

The son of a Turkish Cypriot father, Mehmet, while his mother, Geraldine, is from Lancashire, the 21-year-old grew up in Wood Green, north London, where he attended Edmonton County School.

It was there that he came to the fore on the football field, playing in a school team which reached an English schools cup final at Villa Park, Birmingham, according to friends. It was from this that he was given a trial at Spurs.

"He was a character, he was funny, he was well mannered but he knew how to joke and he was dedicated to football," said Mete Karim, one of his schoolmates, who is now a student at the University of Bedfordshire.

"I saw him a few times since he joined the army, he has always been a happy guy with a smile on his face who would make a cheeky comment."

"He had infinite charisma and was always up for a bit of banter, said Sapper Dave Darling, a member of his squadron.

"If someone was in a bad mood he would be the first with the jokes to try and get them laughing again."

Training as a carpenter and joiner, as his military trade, he served with the regiment at Ripon, North Yorks, before having his first spell in Northern Ireland, on a construction task.

He was later posted to Kenya with the same infantry unit he was due to join in Afghanistan before moving to Antrim when his regiment took over Massareene Barracks as their headquarters.

For his Commanding Officer, Lt Col Roger Lewis of 38 Engineer Regiment, it was his performance during pre-deployment training for Afghanistan that marked him out.

"Always willing to go the extra mile to get the job done he never ceased to amaze me with his cheerful approach regardless of the conditions," he said.

"He couldn't wait to get to Helmand with the rest of his troop."

I don't think he was a Muslim. Never heard of a Muslim with the first name Patrick.

No, Sapper is a Rank, not a name. You don't get many Patricks down the Mosque.

Regardless, if his father is Muslim, he's a Muslim.

There's something not right about the whole situation.  This happens almost exactly as they announce that 4,000 British troops are leaving Basra, Iraq.  It's almost as they are finding a reason to put troops back in Northern Ireland.  I'm not sure who benefits from the timing of these attacks.

The IRA and the republican movement in Northern Ireland in general are extremely anti-Israel and anti-semitic. The founder of Sinn Fein, Arthur Griffith was an anti-semite. The IRA tried to forge links with the nazis in WW2. The IRA had extensive links with the PLO and trained them in making booby-trapped bombs and training snipers and also have links and support hezbollah. The Republic of Ireland is one of the most socialist, left wing and anti-Israel countries in Europe. Republicans in Belfast write graffiti such as "victory to the suicide bombers" in their neigbourhoods and hang palestinian flags off of all their flagpoles and streetlamps, They paint elaborate murals calling gaza "the world's biggest concentration camp" and various other anti-Israel slogans.
I unashamedly stand with the Ulster Protestants and hope the murderers are caught and killed.

Why does it matter? He was a serving soldier shot while defending against terrorists. Surely you are not saying that someone who is half Turkish can be shot at will?

No, if his father was European and his mother Turkish then he would not be a Muslim and it would be sad.  His father is a Muslim and although I know he was going to Afghanistan, that doesn't make him a hero.  I'm sure many people thought the US special forces trainer Ali Mohammed was a "great American" until he turned out to be an Al Qaeda sleeper agent.  I'm sure people also pointed out Hasan Akbar and Ryan Anderson were great Muslim soldiers who were serving their country.  I don't trust that the British army, in an effort to be tolerant, has purged their forces of Muslim sympathizers.

I just wrote you a book and I timed out.  Basically, you're right about the IRA, the IRA anti-semitic influence on Catholics today, Arthur Griffith, Gerry Adams and Mary Robinson being Jew haters. The IRA were opportunists who took money and arms from the Kaiser, the Nazis, the Soviets Libya and Americans.   You're wrong about the overall Republican movement, Irish history and Irish Americans.  They have been good to Jews over the last few hundred years minus the anti Semitic riots in the 20th century cmmitted by a minority of anti-semites. Irish Americans are some of the least anti-semitic people on the planet.  You like the British?  The blood libels they created, the thousands and thousands outright murdered, converted and the 350 year expulsion?  The fact that Jews only gained full rights in 1858? The fact that Churchill didn't bomb the rail lines that went to the concentration camps when he heard what was going on?  The Ulster Unionists who have solidarity with Combat 18, the Nazi group?  If they like Britian so much, go there.
I'm not ok with the Irish holocaust committed by Britain in the 1840's, the land siezures and exploitation, the black and tan killers sent by Churchill, or the fact that they still occupy Irish land and create peace by flooding it with Chinese, Vietnamese, Poles and Muslims.

I support a united Ireland but not the anti-semitic IRA or beasts who run the country.  I hope Britain survives and have respect for its educational system and literature. I also know many non Muslim Brits today and most during WW2 are good people and should have a British future, although it probably will be Western Pakistan soon.

In the words of the Irishman Oscar Wilde, "the Irish are a very fair-minded people, as can be seen by the low opinion they have of each other". My personal opinion is that the only innocents in the recent troubles have been a major part of the British Army - both the Catholic and Protestant civilians have produced murdering, cowardly, blood-thirsty terrorists who deserve the contempt of all civilized people.

Now for G-d Bless America. Could the Americans not also have bombed the railway lines to Auschwitz? No, their war was nothing to do with Jews. It was all about preventing Germany and Japan rising to superpower status by defeating the British, and as a bonus destroying the British Empire in the process.

With regard to half-Muslims, I am biased as all three of my sons are half Turkish. What I am not biased about is that I have worked best part of ten years in western Turkey, in the company of a group of educated Turks almost all of whom have no time for Islam, and completely ignore Ramadan. Over-generalisations are very dangerous, and in my opinion rather more dangerous to JTF than posting the occasional humorous sexual innuendo. I remember Chaim himself as having stated that his concern is with organised Islam and not with Ahmed who runs a petrol station on the corner.

Just remember too that many of the Ulster Protestant Youtube pages have Nazi links or videos. They are in bed with the worst British Nazis such as Combat 18.  The IRA is linked with the PLO which is also a Nazi organization. Neither side is that wonderful.

There is nothing wrong with anyone's ethnicity.  The exception proves the rule.  Yeah, if you bomb the nuclear plants in Iran you might kill someone nice, but that's pretty darn unlikely.

In regards to America, I don't know why you would even think that I would reserve any criticism for FDR or America's history.  Both Britain and America could have easily saved millions of lives and chose not to do so. Both FDR and Churchill heard reports of what was going on. FDR turned most Jews away from the US when they sought refuge there.  That is a lowpoint in British and American history.

I don't support the murdering scum that are the loyalist terror groups who murdered innocent catholics in cold blood and who have links to these groups, I support the average Ulster Protestant who is by enlarge supportive of Israel and is part of possibly the one non-Jewish community in Europe that is generally supportive of Israel. Go to the "We Stand with Israel" Bebo page, the majority of the teenagers there are from Northern Ireland.

Having said that, I will not forgive the British establishment and government for their role in the death of millions of Jews due to the implementation of the white paper and their continual backstabbing of the Jews and support of the arabs during the mandate.
