I Was Mistaken For A Pregnant Woman This Afternoon!
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:22:07 PM »
This afternoon, I took a cab up to my apartment.  After I paid and tipped the driver, he said to me G-d bless you and your baby.  So I said to him "What baby?"  Then he was like "I thought you were pregnant" or something like that.  So I said "No I'm not pregnant."  And left the cab.

I have complimented my pregnant friends by telling them that's what you get for being beautiful.

As a side note, my wife sometimes wears the baby doll style shirts/blouses, and the same thing happened with her, and she is NOT overweight.

The cab driver clearly has lack of judgement. I have met Lisa at several JTF events and all I can say is the cab driver sounds slightly nuts or slightly blind. Lisa you should have told the cab driver if he is going to drive people around for a living he better have his eyes checked.

The cab driver was probably from the 3rd world anyways so who knows what the hell he was thinking anyways or if he was even able to think.

I would never say that to a woman unless I was 100% sure.

I would never even say such a thing to a woman even if she looked 8 months pregnant.

For example, the wife of one my cousins is a heavy woman.  So many years ago, she was at my parents house, and standing next to another woman who I knew for a fact was pregnant.  So I asked my cousin's wife when she was due because she looked at least 7 months pregnant.  And she said "I already had my child"

Boy was I embarrassed.  So as a rule, I would never ever ask a woman such a thing no matter WHAT they look like.

Like cjd said, the driver needs to have his eyes checked, and he did sound slightly nuts.  I should report him to http://www.nyc.gov/html/tlc/html/passenger/file_complaint.shtml.  I'm assuming you didn't get his ID # or get a receipt?
And another explanation is that you were practically glowing, as they say.  Were you on the way back from a spa treatment?  Maybe you were blushing, and the cab driver made a mistake.
And briann is right, some people see baby-doll shirts/dresses and automatically think the lady is pregnant.
Ignorant.

Lisa, I would not pay much attention to what a third world islamic cab driver says. Lets not forget that nyc yellow cab drivers are not exactly high class individuals. For example, yousef al khattab yimach shmo vezichro is a cab driver in NYC. What these pieces of drek say shouldn't carry much weight with you.

DownwithIslam is right. You should discount anything that sand negroes say. The only thing goatrapist Muslim pigs consider women to be is spawning machines. He must assume that you are one because you look Middle Eastern.

I was mistaken for a retard once, seriously. I entered a cab while I was preoccupied by my own thoughts. When I asked to pay I mistakenly asked for the wrong destination where the cab wasn't passing and than I was stuttering when I tried to correct myself. So then a lady passenger tried to help me and she was talking to me slowly like one would talk to a retard or a child...

As a young girl, I was frequently mistaken for a stupid person by my teachers, since I was so shy in class, and SOOOO afraid of opening my mouth even to ask a question.

Very strange, the guy must of been drunk. I'm sure that felt awkward for you. At least it wasn't a someone you know. Chances are you wont see him again, so it's not too bad.
