Croats like to claim he was theirs or at least that he's a "Yugoslav". I guess because he was born in Croatia that makes him a Croat.
One of the most important but overlooked scientists and inventors to ever live. Overshadowed by Thomas Edison, who he worked for and helped to create the lightbulb. Tesla's lightbulb was rejected in favor of Edison's who was dubbed as the father of electricity and inventor of the lightbulb we use today.
Interestingly enough, I believe that the U.S. Supreme Court ruled a very long time ago that Tesla's radio patent was legitimitate and recognized him as the inventor of the radio. Still, this man's contribution to science and electricity is largely neglected by the Western world.
