What happened to Bob Dylan?
« on: August 09, 2009, 01:14:46 AM »
I do find this news a bit upsetting. I hope Im not the only one to feel this way.

For the longest time I painted Dylan in a positive light and even had read that at one time he was a follower of Rabbi Kahane. But now that I hear he is recording an album of Christmas songs, I have to ask myself is this man really proud of his Jewish roots? Or is he just a strung out old burned out rocker trying to make a buck selling out?

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/Flash.aspx/169188

(IsraelNN.com) Jewish-American folksinger, Bob Dylan, has upset Jewish groups in the U.S. after announcing that he will release an album of Christmas songs, including “Here Comes Santa Claus” and the carol “O Little Town of Bethlehem.”

Jewish groups in America were astonished to hear news about Dylan’s Christian album content, especially since Dylan has repeatedly stated that he has returned to his Jewish roots, Voice of Israel government radio reports. However, others say that Dylan has not done anything wrong. The Jewish folksinger has merely joined the bandwagon of other Jewish entertainers, like Barbara Streisand, Neal Diamond, Irvin Berlin, and Phil Spector, all of whom have recorded Christmas songs.
You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

Dylan once promised HaRav Kahane he would donate a very large sum to him and never did. So as far as I am concerned the guy is a pig.

His birth name is Robert Zimmerman, he is a Jew, but an unstable one. Apparently he had converted to Christianity in the 70s and I believe he has a gentile black offspring. Later he supposedly returned to Judaism and he had his son's Bar Mitzva in the Kotel.

In all likelihood he is a self worshiping "Dylanist" before anything else.

But on the good side, his music is good.

I wonder how many of the Christmas songs out there were written by Jews. There is Irving Berlin's White Christmas.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

what are his best songs? I've never heard anything good from him? Seriously, I find his "music" just a constant whine of a cat whose bullocks got pinched in a vice. I can't stand this type of fake country fair.  This has nothing to do with him being a complete ass-ole

I like Bob Dylan. This song is great with Merle Haggard:
"Cities run by progressives don't know how to police. ... Thirty cities went up last night, I went and looked at every one of them. Every one of them has a progressive Democratic mayor." Rudolph Giuliani

pro Israel song by Bob Zimmerman

words to ther song

Neighborhood Bully

With Iran’s demented nuclear threat bringing back memories of the Iraqi nuclear reactor that Israel destroyed in 1981 to the great benefit of the world, I’m reminded of Bob Dylan's timeless (because we’re running out the clock, but time is standing still) song, “Neighborhood Bully,” from his 1983 album, Infidels. Here are the complete lyrics:

Well, the Neighborhood Bully, he’s just one man,
His enemies say he’s on their land.
They got him outnumbered, about a million to one,
He got no place to escape to, no place to run.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

The Neighborhood Bully, he just lives to survive,
He’s criticized and condemned for being alive.
Not supposed to fight back, supposed to have thick skin,
Supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

The Neighborhood Bully, been driven out of every land,
He’s wandered the earth, an exiled man.
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn,
He’s always on trial, for just being born.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

When he knocked down a lynch mob, he was criticized.
Old women condemned him, said he should apologize.
When he destroyed the bomb factory, nobody was glad.
The bombs were meant for him, he was supposed to feel bad.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he’ll live by the rules that the world makes for him,
’Cause there’s a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him given out to every maniac.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

He got no allies to really speak of.
What he gets he must pay for, he don’t get it out of love.
He buys obsolete weapons and he won’t be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

Well, he’s surrounded by pacifists who all want peace,
They pray for it nightly, that the bloodshed must cease.
Now, they wouldn’t hurt a fly, to hurt one they would weep.
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

Every empire that enslaved him is gone,
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon.
He’s made a garden paradise in the desert sand,
In bed with nobody, under no one’s command.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

Now his holiest books have been trampled upon,
No contract he signed was worth what it was written on.
He took the crumbs of the world, and he turned it into wealth,
Took sickness and disease, and he turned it into health.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

What’s anybody indebted to him for?
Nothin’, they say, he just likes to cause war.
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed,
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed.
    He’s the Neighborhood Bully.

What has he done to wear so many scars?
Does he change the course of rivers? Does he pollute the moon and stars?
Neighborhood Bully, standing on a hill,
Running out the clock, time standing still.
    Neighborhood Bully.

(Words and Music by Bob Dylan, 1983, Special Rider Music)
Thy destroyers and they that make thee waste shall go forth of thee.  Isaiah 49:17

His voice does have a tendency to be harsh on the ears. That's why some of his songs have arguably been better performed by other artists (i.e knocking on heavens door by guns n' roses). Anyway, here is one of my favorite bob dylan's songs: , and here is another one

and a one more :

He is a good Southern classic rocker, but I cannot be a fan of his after how he treated the JDL.

I've been a fan of Dylan's music for a long time, but as a person I think he's a scumbag. So the best option is to just listen to his music on youtube or the radio and don't give him any of your money.

This is a link to the the hilarious Porta Potty story from a few months back: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/2009/03/how-sweet-is-li.html

Music can be a very powerful brainwashing tool. I've gone down the wrong path with it before. The best option is just not to listen to the music. Of course it is easier said than done.
