'Capitalism is evil', says new Michael Moore film
« on: September 07, 2009, 09:23:12 AM »
...'crime scene tape around Wall Street'

Capitalism is evil. That is the conclusion U.S. documentary maker Michael Moore comes to in his latest movie "Capitalism: A Love Story," which premieres at the Venice film festival Sunday.

Blending his trademark humor with tragic individual stories, archive footage and publicity stunts, the 55-year-old launches an all out attack on the capitalist system, arguing that it benefits the rich and condemns millions to poverty.

"Capitalism is an evil, and you cannot regulate evil," the two-hour movie concludes.

"You have to eliminate it and replace it with something that is good for all people and that something is democracy."

The bad guys in Moore's mind are big banks and hedge funds which "gambled" investors' money in complex derivatives that few, if any, really understood and which belonged in the casino.

Meanwhile, large companies have been prepared to lay off thousands of staff despite boasting record profits.

The filmmaker also sees an uncomfortably close relationship between banks, politicians and U.S. Treasury officials, meaning that regulation has been changed to favor the few on Wall Street rather than the many on Main Street.

He says that by encouraging Americans to borrow against the value of their homes, businesses created the conditions that led to the crisis, and with it homelessness and unemployment.

Moore even features priests who say capitalism is anti-Christian by failing to protect the poor.

"Essentially we have a law which says gambling is illegal but we've allowed Wall Street to do this and they've played with people's money and taken it into these crazy areas of derivatives," Moore told an audience in Venice.

"They need more than just regulation. We need to structure ourselves differently in order to create finance and money, support for jobs, businesses, etc."

GREEN SHOOTS?

Amid the gloom, Moore detects the beginnings of a popular movement against unbridled capitalism, and believes President Barack Obama's rise to power may bolster it.

"Democracy is not a spectator sport, it's a participatory event," he told a news conference. "If we don't participate in it, it ceases to be a democracy. So Obama will rise or fall based not so much on what he does but on what we do to support him."

Moore also warned other countries around the world against following the recent U.S. economic and political model.
The film follows factory workers who stage a sit-in at a Chicago glass factory when they are sacked with little warning and no pay and who eventually prevail over the bank.

And a group of citizens occupies a home that has been repossessed and boarded up by the lending company, forcing the police who come to evict them to back down.

The film re-visits some of Moore's earlier movies, including a trip to his native Flint where his father was a car assembly line worker and was able to buy a home, a car, educate his children and look forward to a decent pension.

But he brings it up to date with an examination of the financial crisis, demanding to speak to the bosses of companies at the center of the collapse and demanding that banks give back the hundreds of billions of bailout dollars to the country.

And he interviews an employee of a firm which buys up re-possessed, or "distressed" properties at a fraction of their original value and which is called Condo Vultures.

What I don't understand is this: He comes from Flynt, MI (A major drek hole). How in G-d's name can he be a bleeding heart liberal? I'll tell you, I work in a really bad section of Newark, NJ, and I went from moderate leaning right to an ultra-conservative. I don't get it! Deport that blimp to Africa to be with his people!

Michael Moore is the worst type of self-hating animal there is!
Let's look at his other body of work in Propaganda films:
                                                             Fahrenheit  9/11-
                                                             Sicko-
                                                             Bowling for Columbine-

For all we know he doesn't believe anything he says in his films and he is just a marketing genius. He knows what people will buy. He brings a lot of valid points and doesn't make things up like the rest of the dumb media and the Muslims. A 9/11 conspiracy movie right after 9/11 sells, a shooting movie after school shootings sells, a health care movie during a health care crisis sells, and a capitalism movie during an economic crisis sells. Money is his yetzer hara, what can I say. There are bigger issues in the world than Michael Moore.

Very few 'issues' are larger than Michael Moore... He is the biggest 'issue' I have ever seen..

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Personally I have to agree with AsheDina, there is going to be a huge war as a result of the growing tensions caused by the radicals who want to turn our Country into a 3rd world Chit Hole. Michael Whore, George ( Satan ) Soros, and many others radicals who put this muslim marxist into the White House are not going to give up easily. Capitalism is their enemy and capitalism allows all people to have a better life. Their greatest wish is to have 2 classes of peoples, the elite and the poor.

It's going to get ugly before it gets better.

I have been thinking about something lately. Does the desire to equalize everyone and everything come from Satan? I intuit that it comes from a dark place. The 10th commandment speaks about a prohibition on the act of coveting. Coveting is a very dangerous emotion. Rene Girard, a philosophical anthropologist and a religious Catholic, says that the coveting commendment comes last, yet the violation of the 10th commandment eventually leads to the violation of the previous nine.

Leave it to the genius, Michael Moore, to suggest replacing capitalism, an economic system, with democracy, a political system. Or does he perhaps mean that the economic system we should use should be everyone voting on how all the money is spent? Either way, it's irrelevant, just like him. I'll watch his film on capitalism when he takes all the money that he's earned, because of capitalism, and allows all of us to vote on who should get it and how it should be spent. Until then, he is like most leftists; ready to come up with great ideas on how to spend other peoples money, just as long as the money being spent is not his own.

when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”

Yes sadly something is going to have to happen to get things ironed out. People like Moore are the face of evil. He present issues to the uninformed in a way that causes them to believe that they are needlessly being put at a disadvantage. People like this are very dangerous because they incite the ignorant into doing their bidding. The liberals in power today are the most radical element in the Democrat party. They want to bring everyone down to the same downtrodden and dependent condition. Only then will they have their wish of having full control of average Americans every move.

This is meant to be funny right?...... Moore does it for the money but I don't think its the motivating factor. I think Moore honestly believes he has scores to settle with corporate America and the establishment. What valid points does he bring to the table?....... Its true  he is always focused on the controversy of the day but he always presents it from his radical liberal socialist point of view. Anyone that says Moore speaks the truth really cant possibly consider themselves even a moderate conservative. The animal distorts the issue so bad that in the end its hard to tell fact from fiction.  Moore is a mouthpiece for the liberal far left and as such should be considered very dangerous in the political situation we are in today.

Big deal, Al Jazeera, CNN, Fox News and all that crap are worse than Moore. He is ONE problem, not THE problem. The reason he is so successful is because the rest of the idiots in the world don't research enough to formulate their own opinion. A part of being a functional human being in society is investigating every source on a certain issue and ONLY then formulating an opinion. Those who believe EVERYTHING Moore says are either misinformed, uninformed, or too lazy to conduct their own research. Just because he brings a load of crap to the table doesn't mean it's all his fault. It's the people that buy the garbage because they don't have any REAL information. Michael Moore is a tabloid. That is all. We don't have to believe tabloids.

I like Fox News while its not 100% its 75% which is sort of good by todays standards. We are just not going to agree on Moore. I see your point of view but I think the man is far more dangerous then a tabloid. I also don't believe that Moore puts research into his issues. He goes with the flavor of the day. Any time that More comes out with something he needs to get a strong rebuttal. I was never so happy when after More put out his film Fahrenheit 911 Dick Moriss put out Fahrenhype 911.
