What's the point?

In terms of topics, it's great to have diversity. It breaks the monotony and allows for a more fun atmosphere. That's the point.

This thread happens to be awesome, by the way.

Agree 100%, I like to hear about our forum members aside from their views on religion, marxism, obama, etc.   Helps get to know people around here better and like them more.

I was a loner.  I kept to myself.  I quit playing football my junior year because I hated the team aspect of it.  I just stayed out of trouble, got solid grades, and worked as much as I could to save up for college.

I initially broke this down by year (i.e. freshman year, sophomore year, etc.). I had a chronological time line, but for the sake of brevity and readability I'll focus on my senior year.

My family moved further out East and I enrolled in a new school. I didn't think much of the school at the time. In fact, I thought it was incredibly lame. But in retrospect I had a lot of fun. I capitalized on my strengths. I knew how to deal with different personality types and different ethnic groups. I was a social chameleon. My motto was "get in where you fit in." I came off as a very likable person. I was that very friendly and affable guy who could chop it up with anybody. The downside to all of this of course was that the people who I couldn't stand at the time would all want to be friends with me. The Negroes, pretentious types, pot heads, flunkies and so on. Most of my close friends were tough talking Italian-Americans. And I was in with the "in" crowd.

I wasn't necessarily considered a "nerd" but I had very high grades and I was consistently on the Principal's Honor Roll. I did well on all of the subjects that really mattered such as math, English, history, science and Spanish. High school was quite an interesting journey. I'm really so multifaceted though that it's hard to fit me into one box.

EDIT: Modified for brevity.

I was in two different high schools. My first 2 years I was kind of considered a nerd, loner type. In the next school I was looked as a rebel, class clown type who always did what he wanted. I miss that school!

I really was on my own in high school..didn't affiliate with any clique...or if anything gravitated towards the good students who were more nerdy and studied hard and avoided the groups of kids that smoked, partied, or did drugs.. It was tough feeling like an outsider because I made my opinions against underage drinking and drugs pretty much known.  However, in the end, succeeded, married a wonderful beautiful Jewish wife and made new great friends.  I know that since I succeeded as a teenager to avoid these peer-pressures, I can comfortably raise my children in this fashion, Gd willing.
If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.

In my high school, these stereotypes don't exist. You are either Bukharian, Black, Spanish, or other. The Bukharians have fights against the blacks all the time and we always win. Matter fact, some of the older bukharians including the college kids were supposed to fight a truckload of blacks today, because they didn't show up yesterday (even though Bukharians are outnumbered).

Bukharian is a Mizrachi-Sephardi Jewish group from Central Asia that now rules Forest Hills High School. 8) My school is divided by race. But everybody is friends with each other (usually) and their is no "jock"/"nerd" cliques.

And like 95% of the school had smoked weed either in the past or still do. Ironic that a school that is dominated by a Jewish ethnic group that is very nationalist is also probably the biggest pothead school in Queens.
