What Makes Bernie Run? - Essay by Rabbi Meir Kahane

--- Quote ---Then you must know nothing of Judaism... The Holocaust is only the tip of the iceberg of the tribulations the Jewish people went through. Our very formation came from the terrible pit of Slavery in Egypt. We were oppressed for over 200 years as slaves with unbearable work and we awaited the exodus which occured with great miracles. But also many Jews who didn't hearken to the call to leave were left behind and died in Egypt. We have witnessed miracles this day. The formation of Israel itself is a miracle. The six day war was a miracle.. Hashem is good to the people of Israel when we are coming close. Everything happens for a reason and you just dont see the reason.
--- End quote ---
I know much, having studied it for 15 years through my formative years, I've just come to a different conclusion than you have.
The formation of israel today was hardly a miracle, it was built on the guilt from the slaughter of 1/3 of our brothers, sisters, parents and children - without the Holocaust the UN would never have created it and the vote would never have taken place.
If given a choice between continued statelessness and having those 6 million back - or the situation today with 6 MM gone and the current state of israel, I'd take the latter 6 days a week and twice on sunday.
Even more to the point, you have large numbers of so-called "orthodox" jews protesting israel's existence, and I do not refer to the NK filth either.
--- Quote --- You dont know me, but my brother was killed in the WTC on 9/11... It was this event which brought me closer to Hashem... There were many survivors of the Nazis who became stronger Jews because of the event. The fact that there is evil in the world is part of the reason for creation. This world is only the corridor to the next world. Each soul is judged according to its deeds... My belief in Hashem grows stronger the more things get difficult...
--- End quote ---
I am sorry for your loss - I had the "pleasure" of seeing it all unfold right in front of my face as I worked across the street from the N tower, and watched the second plane strike right over my head.
Getting back, one can believe the idea of "what doesn't kill me makes me stronger", but if G-d truly "loved" us, he would not have murdered 1/3 of us in the most heinous ways possible...

You are wrong... We cannot second guess what Hashem has in store for us. Everything which has happened has been foreseen by the prophets and we are certainly headed for the messianic age... Im sorry that your eyes have been closed but you must continue to search for the truth.
This life is only the beginning. In order to understand you must believe in the next world. The struggle in this world is what makes our next world even better...

I find it impossible to accept that the Holocaust was predicted anywhere, by anyone in the past.
Because if it were, would the rabbis not have warned us? 20/20 hindsight is always worthless...

You do realize the pat sophistry of this statement, as if it were issued by a cult leader: "you MUST believe me, you MUST...."
I'm sorry, but I need more proof than that, faith alone will not be enough sustenance.

Hey rhodescholar, it doesnt really matter to me if you believe or not... We are all judged individually... All I am trying to do is provide some input for you to think about. If you act on it, it is in my merit... If not... No sweat off my nose..
