Would you support an independent Tea Party candidate in 2012?
« on: February 04, 2010, 11:55:04 PM »
Just wanted your thoughts, if the GOP puts out the same old Rinos, would you vote for this type of 3rd party candidate.

Judging from the Tea Part convention, the movement is FAR more conservative, righteous, and populist than the mainstream GOP is now.  Tancredo opened the convention by calling Obama a socialist, and openly saying that American "culture," one based on "Judeo-Christian principles," is under attack by multiculturalism.

I strongly support the part of the Tea Party Movement that's in favor of  Moral Values,   for Strong Defense ,   Enforcement of Immigration laws/ border security,     defeating Islam,   AND fiscal Conservativism.      Despite this,       I would vote for a RINO over a Tea Party Movement candidate that I like if it increases the chances of defeating Barack Hussein Obama in 2012.     Defeating BHO in the 2012 election is absolutely,   positively,  w/o a doubt essential.

Yes, this is the way I look at it also. Its my hope that the Tea Party Movement will eventually restore some order to the Republican Party and not just be something that will split the Conservative vote.

I feel the same way as cjd and eb22! :usa+israel:

Unfortunately a separate Tea Party will split opposition to obama and allow him to stay in office. Tea party supporters should be supported under the Republican party.

Im not sure it would necessarily be a Perot effect all over again, the tea party attracts alot of independents and fiscal conservatives.

2012 may be a once in a generation opportunity to get the true conservative to start a counter revolution.  And if a Bush or Mcain type is the candidate this opportunity is gone, and people are just voting for the lesser of two evils.... and the dems will eventually be back in power again.

That is so correct!!!  Also I think the GOP will be popular again due to partly the fact that McCain wont be nominated anymore.  Also another thing is that I hope the GOP stops being pro war all the way which I think should bring in more support.
