Women in Tefillin
« on: February 09, 2010, 06:24:15 AM »
Whilst one can half-understand females wanting to show their piety and belief in G-d by donning Talleisim and Tefillin (Rashi's daughters did!), once they're are hijacked by the Reform, Masorti, Libertarian, Women's Rights and Lesbian Movements, it becomes an abmination.

Witness the arch anti-Kahanista lesbian MK Naomi Chazan in the middle of this coven!

Exactly.  In fact, not only could I 'half-understand it,' I could fully understand it if it was sincere.   (Just like I fully understand the legend of Rashi's daughters, if we assume it's true - I'm not sure if it is.  That was sincere and there is nothing wrong with it and no halacha against it when they put on tefillin).   When it is insincere and for all the wrong reasons, then the halacha is against it, and you're right that then it becomes a disgrace.    Are any of these women in this picture even shomrei shabbath (halachically guarding the Shabbath)?    (Doubt it).  If they are not serious in all areas of Judaism and they adhere to heretical sects like reform, it negates their efforts here and shows the lack of sincerity when they highlight this one issue.     Also I don't understand why a woman would ever put on a kippa which is a man's head covering.   That looks completely silly.

The Reform, Masorti and other such movements are doomed to disappear like the other false branches of Judaism.
