The Jewish Vote in America?
« on: February 14, 2010, 01:36:31 AM »
I just wondered why so many Jewish people, in fact I would say a majority of them vote for the Democrats in the US?

When I worked in the States on a Jewish Summer Camp, there were many cars there at the time with anti-republican and also pro-democrat supporting bumper stickers.

When I've also been on holiday in Florida in the past, I've been in bars, pubs and clubs and in some of them I saw quite a lot of anti-Bush stuff on the walls etc and democrat supporting material. When I have spoken with the people there I've been amazed at some of the openly anti-semitic things that have been said from people clearly voting to the left but appearing to be far right. I have since now known what the term Liberal-Fascism/ist refers to. Maybe socialism is the link between the two?

This is why I don't understand the Jewish vote though. Why do majority of Jews in America vote for a party that is on the left and is traditionally supposed to champion civil rights and the rights of minority groups, yet this party also attract and probably has many members that are clearly anti-semitic?

Also I would say that the Democrats have not been as friendly with Israel as the Republicans. I think Bush Junior has probably been just about one of the best allies that Israel has ever had in an American president, I think he has done more for them than just about any previous president.

Another reason why it baffles me is because of the abortion stance of the democrats and republicans. The first thing Obama did when he became president was to provide more funding for abortion, not just in the USA but in aid to foreign nations as well. GWB I believe removed a lot of funding and tightened up laws on abortion, though he did not ban it. Clearly the Sixth commandment is quite specific "You shall not murder", nobody has this right to take life.

Can anyone explain why most Jewish people in the States vote Democrat?

Cheers,

John

How are WE supposed to know what goes on inside of the minds of people that have forsaken G-d and serve politics as their 'g'od. This is a RIGHT WING forum, why not go to some left wing Jewish forum, and when you get the answer WHY they screw up OUR lives, & vote for MOSLEM Presidents-- let us know.

John, my sister in law is a Liberal Jew who happens to really believe in her mind that islam is a religion of peace.

I have had numerous arguments with my sister in law regarding this, and there is no way I can reason with her.
Her parents are Jewish Democrats so she was raised with their beliefs.

Ashe Dina is correct, this is a right winged forum and every Jew and Gentile on this forum, myself included hates obama.

We are sick to our stomachs that the democrats put a marxist muslim in the White House.

I think it's because of the exile. Living in the exile harms Jews spiritually. Israelis are more right wing on average than American Jews.

The Jewish people did NOT act like this until the 60's.  Since we DO live in exile, we must conduct ourselves righteously, and not like a bunch of lunatics.

That's not true. A lot of American Jews in the earlier 20th century voted for Roosevelt and supported socialist causes.

Roosevelt did indeed get a great deal of Jewish support from the large cities. The reason for this is mainly the fact that many Jews worked in civil service where union membership is almost a given. Unions tend to push their membership to vote the Democrat party line. People employed by the city and state also tend to favor the party in power which in most big cities tends to be the Democrats. My father worked for the city years ago and he still talks about people getting time off to work for the DNC and attend party functions. Old habits die hard and even if some  Democrats thought voting for the shvartza Candidate was not exactly the right thing to do in their mind pulling the Republican lever would be worse.
