Topic dedicated to the Serbian victims who died during the operation Flash [Bljesak] in Western-Slavonia, Republic of Serbian Krajina.

On 01-05-1995, the Croatian army invaded Western-Slavonia, a province of the Republic of Serbian Krajina. That territory was since 1992 placed under international protection.

Between 20.000 and 15.000 Serbs were expelled and 283 Serbian civilians were murdered by the Croatian army and police, during the operation Flash, Bljesak.

May the fallen rest in peace.
I hope Serbian refugees will return to their homes.

People who believe in international protection are wrong. International "peacekeepers" always have bias to one of the sides.

How did the Croats succeed to expel so many people in such short time? Did the Serbs have any military/militia organizations to resist the expulsion?

Thank you!

From 1991 to 01-05-1995 the Croats expelled al most all Serbs from Western Slavonia. The number of the expelled Serbs from Western-Slavonia amounts to 60.000 people. There remaning Serbs of Wester-Slavonia between 15.000 and 20.000 were expelled during operation Flash, on 01-05-1995.

During the negotiations between Krajina and the Republic of Croatia, the Croats suddenly attacked Western-Slavonia and started expelling people.
The Croats also started to massacre civilians and in order to prevent that, Krajina's authorities ordered rocket attacks on Zagreb. Because of that Milan Martic is senteced to 35 years of prison.

The Croatian forces outnumbered the Krajina Serb forces and were superior at that momemt. The worlds countries wanted to remove the Serbs from Croatia and the Serbs did not have a strategy to prevent that.

English Lyrics:

To battle, go forth you heroes,

Go on and don't regret your lives

May Cer see the front, may Cer hear the battle

and river Drina glory, courage

And heroic hand of father and son!

Sing, sing, Drina - of cold water,

Remember, and tell of the ones that fell,

Remember the brave front,

Which full of fire, mighty force

Expelled the foreigner from our dear river!

Sing, sing, Drina, tell the generations,

How we bravely fought,

The front sang, the battle was fought

Near cold water

Blood was flowing,

Blood was streaming

By the Drina for freedom!

Serbian Lyrics:

"Finally, in the summer of 1995, the Croatian forces, having received aid and a green light from the US government, indicted a devastating blow to Krajina Serbs in two separate blitzkriegs: “Bljesak” (Flash) in western Slavonija, May 1, and “Oluja” (Storm), the rest of Krajina, August 4. Thus, the unrecognized Republic of Serbian Krajina ceased to exist. This resulted in huge expulsion and exodus of some 200,000 Serbs from Croatia to Serbia and Bosnia. The Krajina regions were devastated by the scorched-earth policy of the Croatian militia and paramilitary units who continued destruction and pillage for more than a year.

It is estimated that 6,000 persons disappeared during the operation “Storm” and 1,000 since, according to the IHF for the Human Rights Office in Zagreb. By practically expelling and forcing into exile hundreds of thousands of Serbs, the Croat government accomplished a “final solution” of the Serbian question in Croatia. From 12 percent of the population of Croatia before the civil war, the Serbs have been reduced to 3.1 percent."

I attached the article that the quote is from. If any of you wonderful Serbs decide to read it, let me know what you think: are the numbers fair that are given throughout the article relating to various genocidal war crimes committed against the Serbs? I think he's better than most in academia but still giving low--and biased--estimates.
