Cats scratches could cause a bad infection. Thankfully even when Blackie scratched me one time it didn't get infected but I got a tetanus shot anyway. Silly cat, I was pushing her food bowl closer to her, not trying to take it away. lol

Cat bites (actual puncture wounds) can be very, very serious because they drive bacteria deep into the wound.

I must be very resistant because I have been scratched many times and I have never had any infection from the scratch...

Me too Muman. I got scratched a LOT and still do sometimes. I even had Baby bite me a few days before she died (she just grazed me with her teeth though, she wasn't strong enough for a puncture wound) and nothing horrible happened. However that doesn't mean that cat bites and scratches can't be dangerous. If you get a puncture wound from a cat bite you need to go to the doctor even if it doesn't look bad.

Me too.  My little boy is actually pretty huge and I have the sneaking suspicious that he was neutered later than most males because he is ripped to the gills with muscles...  and I play with him quite roughly because he needs it.  He's quick, but I'm quicker; but I'll take more precautions now... who knew!

I am starting to feel better, I will see the doctor again on Saturday to see what else is needed to get this out of me.
