Campaign branding Tel Aviv gay destination underway

Initiative launched in England, Germany aims to encourage members of gay and lesbian community to vacation in Israeli city

With an investment of NIS 340 million (about $88.1 million), an international marketing campaign is being launched to brand Tel Aviv as an international gay vacation destination. The campaign will be run in England and Germany, two locations with considerable gay and lesbian communities.

The campaign will include ads on gay community websites and magazines and will display everything the city has to offer by way of gay tourism.

Designated Facebook and Twitter pages will be created to support the effort and promote Tel Aviv as a new gay capital.

A new website has also been built, Gay Tel Aviv. It starts off like with a sentence encapsulating the very essence of the campaign: ”Rising from the golden shores of the Mediterranean, stands one of the most intriguing and exciting new gay capitals of the world."

The decision to brand Tel Aviv as an international gay destination was supported by an international study conducted by Outnow, a leading company for consulting, branding, and marketing to the gay community. The company was responsible for branding Berlin as the gay capital of Europe, a move that significantly increased tourism to the city.

Etti Gargir, director of the VisitTLV organization, said that the Tourism Ministry and Tel Aviv Municipality invested NIS 170 million (about $44 million) each in the project.

"The increased discount flight capacity from England and Germany increases the capability of Tel Aviv to compete with other cities in Europe. This is in addition to the Outnow study that found Tel Aviv to be an attractive city to those who like culture, restaurants, nightlife, and shopping.

"The study also showed that the city is good for any budget. In other words, there is a range of entertainment and accommodation options at prices that anyone can afford," said Gargir.

About a month ago, Tel Aviv Municipality submitted an official application to host the International Gay Pride Parade in 2012.

The Tourism Ministry reported that it supports targeted marketing campaigns likely to increase tourism to Israel.

Maybe Chaim should pretend to be gay so they let him into Israel? Or maybe if he pretends to be a gay arab muslim they'll let him in.
The city isn't what it used to be. It all happened so fast. Everything went to crap. It's like... everyone's sense of morals just disappeared. Bad economy made things worse. Jobs started drying up, then the stores had to shut down. Then a black man was elected president. He was supposed to change things. He didn't. More and more people turned to crime and violence... The town becomes gripped with fear. Dark times, dark times... I am the hero this town needs. I am... The Coon!!!

Will they let him in if he sneaked through Egypt? Guess not.

Maybe in 100 years there will be no stigma against homosexuality... Then everything will be OK...

NOT!

Cultures may come and go but Judaism will remain...

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Yes, this is true. The law of Sinai is eternal. It is the subconscious of our conscience. Even if we don't know it.

Tel Aviv prepares to celebrate Gay Pride

The annual Gay Pride Parade returns to Tel Aviv this month for its 20th anniversary event attracting tourists from all over the world.

By Nicky Blackburn May 30, 2013

Tourists from all over the world, including Europe, the US and even Lebanon, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, will descend on Tel Aviv this month for the city’s famous Gay Pride Parade.
The event takes place on Friday June 7th, starting at 10am from the Gay Community Center at Meir Park, with music, shows and speeches, and the parade itself kicks off at 1pm with floats from the city’s top clubs, Evita, Shirazi, ADD, and Dreck.

The parade, which is expected to attract about 100,000 people, ends on Gordon Beach with a beach party that goes until sunset. Along with DJ sets by FFF, Dreck, Arisa, Evita and Popring, there will be live performances by pop stars Omer Adam, Michal Amdursky and others.
The Tel Aviv Pride Parade is marking its 20th anniversary this year. It began in 1993 when activists in the city’s gay community set up a closet in Sheinkin Garden and asked members of the community to step out of it.
The first official Pride Parade began in 1998, and has become a major annual event supported by the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality. The event, which costs $160,000 to stage, draws tens of thousands of people every year, both from Israel and abroad. Last year, an estimated 20,000 tourists from abroad came to take part in events, and more are expected this year.

Tel Aviv has become famous worldwide for its gay scene. Last year, it was voted the world’s best city for gay tourism by GayCities.com and American Airlines, sweeping past Berlin, New York and San Francisco. The same year GayCities voted Tel Aviv’s Hilton Beach as one of the world’s Top 10 gay beaches.
Throughout the month of June, Tel Aviv will be holding a number of cultural events, lectures, exhibitions, and festivals to celebrate gay pride. This includes the 8th International LGBT Film Festival will take place at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque from June 8-17th. The Rabin Square fountain will be lit up in rainbow colors for the month.
Additional parties will be held all over the city throughout the weekend, and an exhibition, Night Stamp, which celebrates 20 years of gay nightlife in Tel Aviv will be on display.
According to organizers, this year’s parade will be attended by Finance Minister Yair Lapid, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Culture and Sports Minister Limor Livnat, Opposition Chairwoman Shelly Yachimovich, chairwoman of Meretz Zahava Gal-On and Knesset Member Dov Khenin.
“The Pride Parade has turned into one of the symbols of the city of Tel Aviv,” said Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Ron Huldai, who will launch the parade. “I believe that Tel Aviv-Yafo, a city of tolerance, is a beacon to other cities in this issue”.
"Israel's leaders seem to be more afraid of Obama than they are of G-d. Now we're getting to the real root of the problem. Secular politics won't save Israel. Denying the divine nature of the Jewish State has brought Israel neither stability nor peace. When that changes Israel will finally be blessed with both in abundance"-----------NormanF   ( Posted on Israel Matzav's Blog )

G-d will destroy such a city. Or more likely He will destroy the evils and return it to what it used to be. Tel Aviv of the early State days was not the garbage that it is now. Maybe G-d is using the illegals in South Tel Aviv as a form of punishment for the wickedness of the city of Tel Aviv.

Not only is it a place for the homos but also parts of TA have a brothel every few feet apart.
Also near the central bus station they have pork stores near by & it is crowed with schvartzers from Sudan & Etriea(sp).
My poor brother in law Yigal lives near by & has to contend with all this garbage.

They are literally pimping the city. They encourage gays to come over with the promise of having promiscuous sex. The rational is that gay tourist pour allot of money, more then normal tourists and allot more then pilgrims. It is also a way to supposedly promote a "cool" tolerant image, although I think it is a false notion.

At the local Israel 65 celebration, I saw the Israeli Consulate had brochures for "gay tourism", which of course is so gay.

This is sickening, one big giant sodom and gomorrah planet.  "Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."  Jude 1:7   Strange Flesh...This refers to going after flesh different than what is rightfully ours to claim, or forbidden by God, outside the bounds of God's laws.

Then they will change the name to Tel Homo.

On a serious note, in past years, there was a table for "Congregation Beth Ahavah", a gay "synagogue". So I asked the woman, "You're gay, right?". So she said [Insert Jew liberal accent] "No, I'm a lesbian.". So I asked her what do they do when they read the Torah and the part against homosexuality comes up. So she said they stop and talk about it. That's so gay. Especially since Leviticus 18:22 is the beginning of the aliyah of Parashat Acharei Mot. What are they going to do, have a one pasuk aliyah? Well, we all know the Deforms have their own fake 3 year Torah cycle and read a third of the parasha a year and don't even read it in order like the original 3 year cycle of the Land of Israel. I've also heard of them having 3 aliyot on Shabbat morning.

Which part of the Hebrew canon is the book of Jude in?  I haven't heard of it.  Not that this means anything.  Let me wiki it now...

I got that totally wrong, at least there's some good news for my ignorance.  It's in the last chapter of the Christian Bible

Isn't Revelations the last part of the Xtian Bible?

Anyway, I don't think it's constructive to quote Xtian Bible verses on a Jewish forum unless it's done in a way to fight missionaries like Tovia Singer does.

I think that Christians on this forum haven't lost their freedom of speech in as it pertains to anything other than missionizing or saying for example, Judaism has been superceded.  Debbie is a loyal member and if something she reads her resonates with her faith and she wants to say something, I dont think anyone should be telling her what to say.  I dont mean to sound harsh to you Benyamin, but we too often err here on the side of offending good people.

I personally don't mind an interfaith debate, but its not allowed here for the forums rules and reasons. But I very often see Debbie make these religious references as if she is here almost JUST to missionize albeit in very subtle ways where for example she writes these types of things referencing to xtian books. (as if they are legitimate to us in any way and are a given "truth" and reference) Or mentioning current events and saying- ooh just like jesus died on the cross or other similar nudges. I pointed this out before multiple times but I still see it going on (like on this thread).

I dont think that is in Debbie's agenda at all.  I have seen her comments here on the forum I think for about 4 years and I have never known her to say anything inappropriate to anyone. She is kind, polite, and a true lady.  She speaks from her experience.  I dont think she is trying to convert anyone.  I did see her comment about Christ on the cross and I do not believe for one second if this was explained to her in the context of this being a religious Jewish forum, that she would do this again.  People are human.  We need to try to be more tolerant of our friends.  This doesn't mean we have to agree with them, it does mean that the first approach, in my view, should be a gentle approach.
