He is blindsided by his own stupidity because Israel did not play all that great a role in the Republican takeover.

Palestinians unmoved by US election results, but view them as proof of Israeli attempt 'to thwart negotiations.' Yasser Abed Rabbo, secretary-general of the Palestinian Liberation Organization's Executive Committee, said Wednesday morning that Israel intervened in the American mid-term elections in a bid to disrupt the Middle East peace process.

According to the senior Palestinian officials, the US election results – in which the Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives – should not make much of a different for the Palestinians.

"This is an event with political achievements, but we are working with the American administration and the elections should not have an effect," Abed Robbo said.

He went on to slam the Israeli government, noting that "these results prove that Israel played a role in these elections and cooperated with US elements in order to use the results to thwart the negotiations. More than anything, this testifies to the Israeli government's intentions in regards to the peace process."

In a major blow to the US president, the Republican party on Tuesday night captured at least 53 House seats from Democrats, ending the Democrats' reign after just four years and building a bulwark against Barack Obama's agenda.
