Probably for a trophy, Ruby.  The kid is lucky he didn't get killed or lose an eye.  Did you notice his father was more concerned about video taping the fish jump into the boat, then helping his son.

Animal Planet sure knows how to keep people away from the idea of a marlin fishing expedition... I don't know the situation when it comes to the marlin population however its sad to see a fish that size being killed. The kid was very lucky... Clearly his time  was not up... To me it looks like they were messing with the wrong fish  :::D

I think trophy hunting is wrong. Animals should only be killed if you need them for food or for reasons essential to survival. Maybe this video will help other people to be put off of this kind of thing and if so that's good.

I'm glad the boy didn't die or lose an eye though.
