Interesting how those who have terrorized France are now the heros.

Batman has battled many enemies but now has to face the anger of rightwing US bloggers furious that the comic book caped crusader has recruited a Muslim to run his crime-fighting franchise in Paris.

"The character?s name is Bilal Asselah and he is an Algerian Sunni Muslim and an immigrant that is physically fit and adept at the gymnastic sport parkour," wrote Warner Todd Huston on his site Publius Forum.

"Apparently Batman couldn't find any actual Frenchman to be the 'French saviour'," wrote the rightwinger, apparently discounting the millions of French citizens of North African descent from his definition of "actual" French.

In the December issues of DC Comics Detective Comics Annual and Batman Annual, the caped crusader has set up Batman Incorporated and wants to install a superhero in cities around the world to fight crime.

The hero he picks in France is called Nightrunner, the alter ego of a 22-year-old from Clichy-sous-Bois, a tough Paris suburb where urban unrest sparked riots in immigrant districts across France in 2005.

Bilal Asselah, a Frenchman of Algerian origin, was caught up in that unrest and at one point he and his friend got beaten up by police who mistook them for rioters.

Bilal's friend reacted by later burning down a police station and ended up being killed by police.

But Bilal, thanks largely to the influence of his pious Muslim mother, rejects hate and fear.

He concentrates on learning parkour, the form of acrobatics where practitioners jump from buildings and leap over walls and street furniture, as spectacularly seen at the start of the 2006 James Bond film "Casino Royale."

When riots again threaten to engulf his neighbourhood, Bilal puts on a mask and, using his parkour skills, becomes Nightrunner and sets out to set things right again.

Nightrunner's integrity, athletic prowess, and triumph over personal adversity made him Bruce Wayne's obvious choice to represent Batman in Paris.

But rightwing bloggers in the United States, who are also upset over plans for a black actor to play the Norse God Thor in an upcoming blockbuster movie, are incensed that DC Comics chose to make their new superhero a Muslim.

They see it as pandering to political correctness.

"Unfortunately, readers of Batman will not be helped to understand what troubles are really besetting France," wrote Huston on Publius Forum.

"In this age when Muslim youths are terrorizing the entire country, heck in this age of international Muslim terrorism assaulting the whole world, Batman?s readers will be confused by what is really going on in the world.

"Through it all DC makes a Muslim in France a hero when French Muslims are at the center of some of the worst violence in the country?s recent memory," he wrote.

The Angry White Dude blog, which described Islam as the "religion of murder," mocked that "Nightrunner the Muslim sidekick will have strange new powers to bury women to their waists and bash their heads in with large rocks."

US comic book creator Bosch Fawstin, who wrote on his blog that "DC Comics has submitted to Islam," is coming up with his own antidote.

"If you?re as sick and tired of this IslamiCrap as I am, be on the lookout for my upcoming graphic novel, The Infidel, which features Pigman, an ex-Muslim superhero who is the jihadist?s worst nightmare," he blogged.

DC comics did not respond to an AFP request for an interview with David Hine, the writer of the album featuring Nightrunner, and declined to comment on the controversy.

But the British-born author told a US website that he had tried to "come up with the kind of hero I would want to see in a comic book if I were French."

"The urban unrest and problems of the ethnic minorities under (President Nicolas) Sarkozy?s government dominate the news from France and it became inevitable that the hero should come from a French Algerian background," he told the Death and Taxes site.

The mini-storm on the English-language blogosphere -- where left-leaning or pro-Islam sites are attacking the rightwingers for their hostility to a Muslim superhero -- has so far only sparked a tiny number of reactions on French-language websites.

The albums went on sale here last month but the small numbers stocked were quickly sold out, book stores said.

All great American superheros have defected to the dark side. We need some freedom loving, jihad avenging characters to slay the islamic enemies and bury the hordes of muslim maniacs... When will our avenging superhero arise to defeat these mongrels?

PS: What ever happened to the Rabbi Kahane comic books which I heard discussed a few years ago? A strong Jewish character like Rabbi Kahane could single-handedly repulse the muslim horde...

Rabbi Meir Kahane debuts as a comic book hero
By MICHAEL GRUBB / THE MEDIA LINE

Twenty years after his assassination, supporters are using a kid-friendly medium to spread the Kach leader's ideas.

Israeli children who don’t find enough inspiration from the exploits of Spiderman can now turn to Rabbi Meir Kahane, who founded and led the Jewish Defense League and Kach movements before his assassination in 1990 and now stars as the hero of his own comic book.

“Miracle Man,” a 50-page book printed on glossy paper and hardbound, making it more like a graphic novel than a traditional comic, tells the life story of the rabbi in a format designed for older children. The story is told through a school project that young Meir David is assigned to write about. He meets with various people— fictional friends and relatives as well as real-life figures like the Kahane acolyte Baruch Marzel – who knew Kahane personally or were helped by him.

What a butchery of art in the name of multiculti insanity. This is what happen when an original artistic creation becomes a franchise of a greedy heartless corporation.

Have they come out with a homosexual superhero yet? Maybe he is named "The Flaming Fagala" or something...

PS: I am aware of the hint of homosexual relations in the Batman story... Nobody ever knows if they are 'more than friends'..

Dona dona dona nona Halal man

LOL good one :)

I feel kind of sad about this really. I mean Batman was cool because he doesn't have super powers per se. He was able to be a super hero without them.

Northstar from Marvel's Alpha Flight is a homosexual.

And I have read that in the Wolverine comics that Wolverine's son Daken makes out with a homosexual.

Oy vey.  I am glad I have many old comics to still read since the righteous aspect of comics trend is going down hill right into the gutter.

Daken has been portrayed engaging in homosexual behavior in a few instances, however no indication is given whether this is due to orientation (and thus confirming the character as being bisexual) or simply Daken using these situations to his advantage. Daken kissed a man in Wolverine: Origins #11, however the encounter also served to further toy with a woman he had been romantically seeing and later, Daken killed the man in question. In Dark Wolverine #75 it is vaguely suggested Daken has had a sexual encounter with a male employee of Norman Osborn, but this was also shown as a means to access top-secret files. Later in the same issue, Daken makes a pass at Mac Gargan however the context is ambiguous, possibly facetious. In the same issue, it is seen that Daken used his pheromones to "engage" a female Hammer agent. In Dark Avengers #7, Daken humorously states how he "...always did like playing for both teams," a double entendre referencing bisexuality and his membership in both the Dark Avengers and Dark X-Men. In Dark Wolverine #76, Daken uses his pheromones in order to manipulate the Thing, goading him with homoerotic remarks. During the Siege of Asgard, Daken also made a flirtatious pass at Hawkeye, also managing to kiss him on-panel. Daken has also been shown on numerous occasions engaging in heterosexual behavior and sleeping with female characters.

At the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International, Marjorie Liu commented (on Daken's sexuality) that "[Daken] will do anyone and anything [to achieve his goals and he's] past that kind of identification. He's beyond it." Daniel Way added that Daken's sexuality will be addressed later on, but it's more about his personality. "He's no more homosexual than he is heterosexual. It's about control."

He also possesses pheromone manipulation that suppresses his scent and alters emotions and sensory perception of others, e.g. sexual attraction, psychotic rage, rational thinking, etc. However certain individuals have proven immune to Daken's pheromones, most notably Hulkling,a Skrull/Kree hybrid, and The Hulk's son, Skaar, a Human/Oldstrong hybrid.

Thank you for the detailed explanation!

Daken sounds pretty gross.

I think this is a bigger plan to make muslims seem okay to everyone. Comics in the US developed as a way to deal with evil in interesting ways. The heroes mostly stood for truth and the American way. Now Islam is taking over that too.

Previously in 2010 Superman also got into bed with some Muslims (http://blog.mtviggy.com/2010/08/23/islamic-superhero-comic-the-99-to-cross-over-with-superman-wonderwoman-and-others/).

“The 99″ is inspired by Islam and it will have cross over with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. Those are some of the most popular comic book heroes forming the Justice League. Of course, the will have to change their names to "Injustice League" (as soon as they find a new name for the "injustice league").

I cannot wait till the muslims suicide superman with a kryptonite bomb then maybe all the kiddies watching superman will at least learn something useful.

I am not good at videos but I think it will be a very popular youtube video if someone can put together a short skit:
act 1: superman (and other heroes) become friends with justice league
act 2: superman faces suicide bomb
act 3: batman invites muslim heroes to batcave and they bomb his batcave
act 4: Osama congratulates "muslim" heroes for making him new cave to hide in

Will wonder woman be stoned to death for dressing inappropriately, or will she put on a head scarf and leave the rest of herself scantily clad?

She does have a new design though (http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2010/06/29/unveiling-wonder-woman%E2%80%99s-new-costume-direction/) with jeans but I think the muslims will stone her anyway. Unless the remains in her invisible plane. lol

Didn't she used to dress up in USA colors with stars? You're right though the Muslims will still kill her, she's showing her face and wrists and hands! *gasp*
