Should we call ourselves "Kahanists"?
« on: June 10, 2007, 11:59:41 PM »
I pose the question, maybe we should just call ourselves Torah Jews, and if theirs a temporary political party why shouldnt it simple be the Torah Party of the Jewish part, (something along those lines). By us calling ourselves Kahanists is like some Jews callinging themselves Satmar, or Bobov, etc. Giving the expression (in their cases rightfully so) that its a splinter from something bigger. Shouldnt we the "Kahanists" simply refer to ourselves and the movement as simply returning to Judaism, or Halahic Jews. (you get my point).

Why not? What's wrong with being a Kahanist?

Well, I think it was because "Kahanist" is always the term that the leftists use to describe us, and it's obviously used in a derogetory way.  But, as Rav Kahane said (I forget where) "The Nazis used tanks - does that mean we shouldn't use tanks anymore?".

One does not deal with terrorists; one does not bargain with terrorists; one kills terrorists.

I think Tzvi may have a point, in that names have great power, think about it, there are no "p lestinian" people, they have no history no culture they were never a nation, and yet by the repetition of a word a pretend people was invented.

How about this?

HaShem is our destination, Torah is our path, Kahanism is our navigation star.

For some reason that sounds like the party line from a muslim political party in pakistan:

"Islam our religion, Socialism our economic policy." Same rhythm to it or soemthing.

Tzvi, hello my friend and good day.

I believe the term "Kahanist" gives the listener an immediate clear understanding of your beliefs both religious, and political, and more importantly it gives honor to the greatest spiritual leader of this generation.   I don't think it's redundant to refer to ourselves as such.

Yes
As long as in the heart, within,
A Jewish soul is yearning,
And towards the end of the East
An eye still watches toward Zion,

Our hope is not yet lost,
The hope of two thousand years,
To be a free nation in our own land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.

Techincally, all Torah true Jews are Kahanists.

What Rabbi Kahane taught was just unadulterated Judaism.

I second that!

Thats exactly what I mean, by saying Kahanism is gives the IMPRESSION that it is a new "ism" and ideology separate from the origional ism of Judaism.

That wasn't meant as an insult, it was just a random statement, the two things sound rather similar even though they mean completely different things, I'm sorry if I caused any offence.

Kahanism should not become and in no way is a branch of Judaism. Rav did not invent anything new, but rather was a great example how to follow the existing laws.
