(IsraelNN.com) Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupoliansky is to fire the historic cannon in Jerusalem Monday night to mark the Islamic fast of Ramadan which ends in the evening. The cannon is located in an old cemetery in the eastern area of the capital.

The city paid approximately $1,500 for 75 shells for the cannon. The month Ramadan coincides with the Jewish month of Tishrei this year and next year will fall at the same time as the Hebrew month of Elul.
