Because of Kosovo Serbia will not support Palestine at UN
Belgrade - Serbia will not support the declaration of the state of Palestine, that would not have the approval of Israel, and does not intend to support the eventual resolution of the Palestinian independence at a session of UN General Assembly in September this year, reports (newspaper)"Today" from sources close to national leadership in Belgrade.
Our interviewees pointed out that the reason for such reasoning of Serbia is - Kosovo. In principle, such as Belgrade is vehemently opposed to Kosovo's self-proclaimed state, would not be consistent to support unilateral action anywhere in the world, including the Middle East.
The sources of our newspapers("Today") have confirmed that the Ambassador of Palestinian Authorities, Mohamed Nabhan, spoke with some Serbian officials, including the requested support for the initiative announced at the UN. Nabhan said for our newspaper on Tuesday that, regarding the resolution of Palestinians in the world organization, he received "signals that are consistent with friendly relations on the basis of official contacts between the two countries at various levels. " However, as respondents who are close to Serbian national leadership pointed out to "Today" , the Palestinians were not given any promise, nor there is an intent to support their activities on the occasion of the declaration of independence.
Serbian Foreign Ministry would not comment on the whole situation.
