R’ Aviner: Koran needs genizah

Genizah is usually reserved for pages printed with Hashem’s name or objects used for mitzvot. Now Rabbi Shlomo Aviner says the Koran deserves a place there, too.
The question of whether a copy of the Koran must be placed in genizah instead of disposed of normally in the trash was posed to Rabbi Aviner in the weekly HaSoreg leaflet.
Since the Koran includes the name of Hashem and words of faith, it should be wrapped well and placed in genizah, Rabbi Aviner wrote in his response.
The rabbi is rosh yeshiva of Ateret Yerushalayim and the rav of Beit El.

The more I read about this so called "Rabbi" the more it puzzles me why so many of the Rabbis I respect at my Yeshiva not only respect this "Rabbi" but have him as there go to guy for Halacha. He doesn't even know the Halacot of Niddah

Do you have a link that discusses this issue? In order to speak harshly against an Orthodox Rabbi who has smicha from a known Yeshiva it is necessary to know as much as you can before speaking..

On the surface this seems like a mistaken finding of Halacha... Genizas are only for Holy Jewish writings and the Koran is not a holy document in Jewish scripture. Also it is debatable whether it has Hashems name printed in it... I have never heard a rabbi claim that the god of islam has the same name as our Hashem. the closest I came was saying that allah is a corruption of Elokim. Does anyone know a source which discusses this issue?

In fact if you have a non Jew write a Safer Torah and It's checked by a scribe and it's found to be 100% kosher the Halacha is that you have to burn how much more so with a book that tell it's followers to kill the Non Jew
