Joy of the Torah : Dancing and Rejoicing with our heritage!
« on: October 23, 2011, 01:08:07 AM »
Last week we observed Simchat Torah. It is a time when we are supposed to be joyous and happy. One of the primary ways we make ourselves joyous is by dancing with the Torah. Many synagogues have multiple Torah scrolls which are taken out and given to people to dance with around the synagogue. I have many good memories of Simchat Torah because we all can dance {so long as we have feet and legs, Baruch Hashem} and it doesn't matter if you are a scholar or a novice, we all can enjoy the wisdom and the glory of the Torah...

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14
