I'm sure they practiced some form of religion. I think there were always some people who knew about God but unfortunately I think most of the world worshipped the sun, moon, and nature. There have been really ancient musical instruments, religious artwork, and burial sites found with grave goods in them all of which which indicate religious beliefs.
