Vatican getting into bed with Islam

Italian journalist Giulio Meotti reports that the Vatican has come out in favor of the 'Palestinian' agenda of 'de-Judaising' Jewish holy sites... and that's only the tip of the iceberg.       http://frontpagemag.com/2012/giulio-meotti/exposing-the-vatican-islam-alliance/

The Vatican already declared its support of waving a Palestinian flag over the Temple Mount in the heart of ancient Jerusalem. Next in line is Rachel’s Tomb near Bethlehem, Judaism’s third most holy site, which for millennia has served as a place of longing, pilgrimage and prayer for the Jewish people. In 1996, Yasser Arafat’s Palestinian Authority began referring to the site as the “Bilal ibn Rabah Mosque,
” and this is how UNESCO shamefully listed it in 2010.

Many Catholic groups worldwide already embraced the Palestinian myth. Pax Christi, one of the most famous Catholic organizations, on its website, repeatedly calls the Jewish site a “mosque.” Then there is the Bethlehem University of the Holy Land, the only Vatican-run educational institution in the area and whose founding can be traced back to the visit of Pope Paul VI in the holy land in 1964. The Catholic University recently launched a project about the Rachel’s Tomb. The document calls it “a historical religious site for followers of Christianity and Islam,” whose location is “on Palestinian lands.” The Vatican institution seems to ignore that all of Rachel’s Tomb belongs to Area C, which the Oslo Accords gave to Israeli jurisdiction. The very title of the Catholic project, “Rachel: An Alien in her Hometown,” suggests that the tomb is a spot hijacked by the Israelis. The tomb, the Catholic report says, “is also known by Muslims as the Bilal Ibn Rabah Mosque.” According to the Vatican university, the Jewish shrines are Arab treasures stolen by the Zionists and the Israelis are no more than invading colonizers.

    ...

The Palestinian-Vatican pact is part of a bigger scenario, in which the Catholic Church is adopting a tragic appeasement on Islam. As the brave Andrew Bostom explained, the Vatican embraced “groveling Islamophilia, accompanied by criticism of the U.S. ‘war on terrorism’ as an ‘injustice’ to Muslims, and constant scapegoating of Israel, often expressed with strident animus towards the Jewish State.”

Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, who is known for having a pro-Islam position, has been appointed by Pope Benedict as the head of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue. In a letter addressing his “Dear Muslim friends,” Tauran asked for Islamic help to form an alliance against atheism. The Vatican promoted “Love of God, Love of Neighbor,” the first three-day forum with Islamic leaders. The Pope agreed to meet one of the most dangerous Islamists in the Western world, the grandson of Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna, Tariq Ramadan – the Swiss scholar who denies Israel’s right to life and who has been banned from entering the US because of his alleged association with extremists.

Bishop Mariano Crociata, secretary general of the Italian Episcopal Conference, announced that the Vatican is in favor of building new mosques in Europe. Then the European Bishops met with European Muslims in Turin (Cardinal Tauran was also present) to proclaim the need for the “progressive enculturation of Islam in Europe” (read it: the Islamization of the old continent).

Read the whole thing. Disgraceful.     http://frontpagemag.com/2012/giulio-meotti/exposing-the-vatican-islam-alliance/

Vatican: Three senior clerics back more European mosques

Vatican City, 18 Dec. (AKI) - Muslims should be allowed to build new mosques in Europe, provided they respect local communities and adapt to host countries' way of life, three top clerics said on Thursday. The construction of more official mosques will boost security in Western nations, said Archbishop of Bordeaux, Cardinal Jean-Pierre Ricard, Archbishop of Budapest, Cardinal Peter Erdo, and Archbishop Josip Bozani of Zagreb.

"Religious freedom requires the faithful to have their own places of worship. This applies to Muslims and Christians alike, both in Europe and in Islamic countries," said Ricard, quoted by the Italian Conference of Bishops' SIR news agency.

Where the Muslim call to prayer upsets local communities in Europe, mosques should be allowed to be built, but not minarets, Ricard argued.

He is vice-president of the European Episcopal Conference.

Responding to concerns that more mosques in Europe could pose a threat to the continent's security, Ricard said this threat arose when Muslims did not have official places of worship.

"The risks are greater when Islam remains underground and hidden," he said.

Ricard, Erdo and Bozani were received by Pope Benedict XVI in Rome on Thursday.

Erdo is president of the European Episcopal Conference, and Bozani is another vice-president of the organisation

The Muslim "Overtaking" of France: as Mosques and as Faithful
The Quran

The Quran
Disclosure of the results of a study by the Hudson Institute, which provides a framework certainly unprecedented in the country's religious landscape
Marco Tosatti
Rome

In France there are more Islamic mosques being built, and more frequently, than Catholic churches, and there are more practicing Muslims than practicing Catholics in the country.

Nearly 150 new mosques are currently being built in France, home to the largest Islamic community in Europe. The projects are in various stages of completion, according to Moahmmed Moussaoui, President of the Muslim Council of France, who provided this data in an interview on August 2 with RTL radio.

The total number of mosques in France has already doubled to exceed 2,000 in the last ten years, according to a research entitled: "Building mosques: the government of Islam in France and Holland." The best known French Islamic leader, Dalil Boubakeur, Rector of Great Mosque of Paris recently suggested that the total number of mosques should double, to 4,000, to meet the growing demand.

Instead, the Catholic Church in France has only twenty new churches built in the last ten years, and formally closed more than 60 churches, many of which could become mosques, according to research conducted by the French Catholic daily La Croix.

Although 64% of the French population (41.6 million people, out of about 65 million inhabitants) are defined as Roman Catholic, only 4.5% (about 1.9 million people) are practicing Catholics, according to the French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP).

Also in the field of comparison, 75% (4.5 million) of the approximately 6 million Muslims of North Africa and sub-Saharan Africa in France are identified as "believers", and 41% (about 2.5 million) claim to be "practitioners", according to a report posted on Islam in France by the IFOP on August 1 of last year. Research says that more than 70% of French Muslims claimed to have observed Ramadan in 2011.

Putting these elements side by side furnishes empirical evidence of the claim that Islam is on its way to overtaking Roman Catholicism as the dominant religion in France. As the numbers grow, the Muslims in France are becoming more assertive than ever before. A case for all groups: Muslims in France are asking the Catholic Church for permission to use its empty churches as a tool to solve the traffic problems caused by thousands of Muslims who pray in the street.

In a statement on March 1, addressed to the Church in France, National Federation of the Great Mosque of Paris, the French Council of Muslim Democrats and Islamist group called Collectif Banlieues Respect asked the Catholic Church, in a spirit of inter-religious solidarity, to allow the empty churches to be used by Muslims for Friday prayers, so that Muslims "are not forced to pray in the street" or "be held hostage by the politicians." Every Friday, thousands of Muslims in Paris and other French towns close roads and sidewalks (and consequently, block local trade, and trap the non-Muslim residents in homes and offices) to accommodate the faithful who are unable to enter the mosque for Friday prayers. Some mosques have started to broadcast sermons and chants of "Allahu Akbar" in the streets. These hardships have caused anger and reactions, but despite many official complaints, authorities have not intervened so far in fear of igniting incidents. The issue of illegal street prayers reached the top of the French political agenda in December 2010 when Marine Le Pen, the new charismatic leader of the National Front, denounced the occurrence "an occupation without troops or tanks."

During a meeting in the city of Lyon, Le Pen compared the Islamic prayers in the streets to the Nazi occupation. He said: "For those who like to talk a lot of the Second World War, we can also talk about this problem (the Islamic prayers in the street, ed), because it is an occupation of territory. It is an occupation of sections of land, of districts in which religious law enters into force. It is an occupation. Of course there are no tanks or soldiers, but nevertheless it is an occupation and weighs heavily on residents."

Many French agree. In fact, the issue of Islamic prayers in the street – and the wider issue of the role of Islam in French society – has become a problem of the greatest magnitude in view of the presidential election of 2012. According to a survey by the IFOP, 40% of the French agree with Le Pen that the prayers on the street seem to be an occupation. Another poll published by Le Parisien shows that voters see Le Pen, who argues that France has been invaded by Muslims, and betrayed by its elites, as the best candidate to address the problem of Muslim immigration.

The French President Nicolas Sarkozy, whose popularity was at 25% in July, the lowest figure ever recorded for an incumbent president a year before the presidential election, according to TNS-Sofres seems determined not to be outdone by Le Pen in this battle. He recently declared that prayers in the street are "unacceptable" and that the roads can not become "an extension of the mosque." And he warned that this could undermine the secular tradition of France's separation of state and religion. The interior minister Claude Guéant told the Muslims of Paris, on August 8, that instead of praying in the streets they can use a disused army barracks. "Praying in the streets is not something acceptable, it must cease."

Some statements by Muslim leaders seem intended to assuage the concerns of the French (and not just the French). The Turkish Premier Erdogan Tayyp, for example, who made it clear that the construction of mosques, and emigration are part of a strategy for the Islamization of Europe. He publicly repeated the words of a Turkish poem, written in 1912 by the Turkish nationalist poet Ziya Gökalp. "The mosques are our barracks, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers." The Archbishop emeritus of Smirne, Giuseppe Germano Bernardini, recounts a conversation he had with a Muslim leader: "Thanks to your democratic laws, we will invade you. Thanks to our religious laws, we will dominate you".

We have several wonderful Catholic members here.  If you're not a fan of the Roman Catholic Church, that's one thing.  But I don't want to see a whole Serb/Catholic fight here.

How did he smear ALL catholic people? He said something against the Pope not against Catholics as people.

What the vatican is doing is evil and against the will of G-d. I hope that they realize what will happen to them by siding with the enemies of G-d. Any good Catholics here need to write the vatican and tell them the dire consequences of stealing Jewish holy sites and handing them to muslims. There is NO EXCUSE for a religion which claimed to have made amends for what they have done to the Jewish people throughout history, and yet they deny the Jewish nature of the Holy Land. HOW DARE THEY!

KOL HAKAVOD to Giulio Meotti for reporting these atrocities.

All right.  I guess he didn't smear all Catholic people.  I just don't want this thread to devolve into that.

And I don't like how they're attempting to de-Judaize our holy sites in Israel either.  Shame on them!

Now let me be clear I don't condemn anyone based on their beliefs. If a person is Catholic, and are happy being Catholic, all the best... But the church really needs to consider whether they want to improve their relation with the Jewish people then they should not attempt to insult the Jewish people by calling Rachels Tomb a mosque.

The church does not "recognize" Israel because throughout the ages it had 1 and only 1 prophecy- that the Jews will never return to the Holy land since they didn't accept yeshu. Their being millions of Jews in the Holy land today is a slap in the face of their institution which means memberships are declining once the normal Catholic realizes this. The church still has this grudge.
