Putin vows ‘Russia will never forget Holocaust’
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:09:35 PM »
President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to tolerance and open societies during a meeting in Moscow with Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Though Russia and Israel disagree on several issues, the two nations share an avowed dedication to battling extremism – their mutual histories overlap during one of the bloodiest chapters of human history.
Putin told Peres that while Russia is not totally free from anti-Semitic extremism, the country will never forget the darkest moment in the history of the Jewish people.
“We will not forget the losses that the Jewish people suffered in fighting Nazism, nor will we ever forget the Holocaust,” Putin said.
An estimated 27 million Russian soldiers and civilians died in World War II, and six million Jews were killed in Nazi concentration camps.
Peres pointed to the lesson of World War II, when the United States and the Soviet Union put aside ideological differences and engaged to defeat Nazi Germany.
"It would have been impossible to defeat Nazism without interaction between the United States and the Soviet Union,” Peres said. “If they saved [the world] from Hitler then, now these two countries should join forces to save nations from a new Hitler.”
The Israeli President also lauded Russia as the place where “the State of Israel was born.” The majority of the founders of modern Israel came from Russia, Peres said, adding that the population of Israel includes some 1.2 million immigrants from former Soviet nations.
"Thank you to the Russian people from the Jewish people, thank you for something that has been done for centuries," he said.
Peres attended the opening of Moscow’s Jewish Museum of Tolerance, the largest of its kind in Europe. The Russian president said the building represented Russia’s dedication to “eliminating xenophobia and nationalism.”
Putin closed his speech by saluting the recent creation in Israel of a monument honoring Red Army soldiers.
“Any decent and honest person must be thankful to Russia and honor the Red Army, which demonstrated unheard-of courage in what was an extremely hard period,” the Israeli President said.

The banding together by the nations of the world against Israel is the guarantee that their time of destruction is near and the final redemption of the Jew at hand.

This is true... in fact Putin can't wait to help start another one.

By the way... Putin must be ecstatic about Obama's win.

It's not kooky to say the elites want a global government. Why do you think the UN keeps trying to grab for more power and erode sovereignty. I think you should look up MEFTA. It will directly affect Israel if it goes into effect.

Did he stutter? Yes Russians slaughtered millions of Jews... Is there even a question about it... The only Jews Russia had any use for was the ones that had something to offer in the way of research and development.

Who killed millions of Jews? Russians?  :o  We are talking about dead people here. Please do not make such untruthful statements that lack any evidence. You are being blinded with your hate for Russia that you putting yourself in position where someone can say that you never read history book in you entire life. I just can't believe what I am reading here. Must hit myself to see if I am dreaming this.

Communist regime took lives of my family and our financial prosperity. Was it evil? Yes. But sure we can't make up stories here and alter historical facts. In fact, with a new law in Russia person publicly saying such things will go to jail for up to 5 years. World had over 60 years to study WWII events and I agree that morons trying to interpret those events very differently should face prison time.

Russia and USSR have a very dark history when it comes to its Jews. Russia before the Soviets were terrible and Jews were persecuted by the Tzar, and after the Soviet revolution too Jews were oppressed and they tried to snuff out Judaism (and all religion) entirely.

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities

Documentary evidence as to the presence of Jews in Muscovite Russia is first found in the chronicles of 1471. The relatively small population of Jews were generally free of major persecution: although there were laws against them during this period, they do not appear to be strictly enforced.

Small number of Jews, settled in Russian and Ukrainian towns suffered occasional persecutions, owing to religious fanaticism, but on the whole relations between the Jews and Christians were satisfactory and the former suffered no legal limitations. Converted Jews occasionally rose to important positions in the Russian State, i.e. Peter Shafirov, vice-chancellor under Peter the Great was of Jewish origin.

Their situation changed radically, during the reign of Catherine II, when the Russian Empire acquired rule over large Lithuanian and Polish territories, which were heavily populated by Jews, especially during the second (1793) and the third (1795) Partitions of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Under the Commonwealth's legal system, Jews endured restrictions euphemised as "disabilities", which also continued following Russian rule. Catherine established the Pale of Settlement that included Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and the Crimea (the latter was later excluded). Jews were supposed to reside in the Pale and required special permission to emigrate into Russia proper. Within the Pale, Jews were given right of voting in municipal elections, but their vote was limited to one third of the total number of voters.

Jewish communities in Russia were governed internally by local, dominantly theocratic administrative bodies, called the Councils of Elders (Qahal, Kehilla), constituted in every town or hamlet possessing a Jewish population. The Councils of Elders had jurisdiction over Jews in matters of internal litigation, as well as fiscal transactions relating to the collection and payment of taxes (poll tax, land tax, etc.). Later, this right of collecting taxes was much abused; in 1844 the civil authority of the Councils of Elders over its Jewish population was abolished.[4]

The beginning of the 19th century was marked by intensive movement of Jews to Novorossiya, where towns, villages and agricultural colonies rapidly sprang up.

Rebellions beginning with the Decembrist Revolt of 1825, followed by the struggle of Russia's intelligentsia, and the rise of nihilism, liberalism, socialism, syndicalism, and finally Marxism threatened the old tsarist order.

Prior to 1827 Jews did not serve in the Russian army, but they were subject to double taxation in lieu of military service. In 1827 Nicholas I decreed new recruitment regulations, extended to Jews. About 70,000 Jews were conscripted between 1827 and 1854, a large percentage of them underage (see Cantonists).

Ida Rubinstein was born in Saint Petersburg.
The cultural and habitual isolation of the Jews gradually began to be eroded. An ever-increasing number of Jews adopted Russian language and customs. Russian education was spread among the Jews. A number of Jewish-Russian periodicals appeared.

Alexander II was known as the "Tsar liberator" for the 1861 abolition of serfdom in Russia. Under his rule Jews could not hire Christian servants, could not own land, and were restricted in travel.[5]

Alexander III was a staunch reactionary and an antisemite[6] (influenced by Pobedonostsev[7]) who strictly adhered to the old doctrine of Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Ethnocentrism. His escalation of anti-Jewish policies sought to ignite "popular antisemitism," which portrayed the Jews as "Christ-killers" and the oppressors of the Slavic, Christian victims.

Victims of a 1905 pogrom in Yekaterinoslav

A large-scale wave of anti-Jewish pogroms swept Ukraine in 1881, after Jews were wrongly blamed for the assassination of Alexander II. In the 1881 outbreak, there were pogroms in 166 Ukrainian towns, thousands of Jewish homes were destroyed, many families reduced to extremes of poverty;[citation needed] large numbers of men, women, and children were injured and some killed. Disorders in the south once again recalled the government attention to the Jewish question. A conference was convened at the Ministry of Interior and on May 15, 1882, so-called Temporary Regulations were introduced that stayed in effect for more than thirty years and came to be known as the May Laws.

The repressive legislation was repeatedly revised. Many historians noted the concurrence of these state-enforced antisemitic policies with waves of pogroms[8] that continued until 1884, with at least tacit government knowledge and in some cases policemen were seen inciting or joining the mob.

.
.
.
In 1886, an Edict of Expulsion was enforced on Jews of Kiev. Most Jews were expelled from Moscow in 1891 (except few deemed useful) and a newly built synagogue was closed by the city's authorities headed by the Tsar's brother. Tsar Alexander III refused to curtail repressive practices and reportedly noted: "But we must never forget that the Jews have crucified our Master and have shed his precious blood."[9]

You can say anything you like Russia calls the shots in your country and still does... Russia tells you Serbians to jump and the Serbian government  asks how high the jumping needs to be... Personally I could care less about Serbia or what Serbia thinks of the United States... In my opinion Clinton did not do enough to help your country when he had the opportunity... He should have done far more...Serbs and Russians are one in the same in my book... Any country that can align itself with the likes of Russia has to be of the same filthy backstabbing mindset.

Ok, lets go back long before 1471. Do you believe life of ordinary Russian was better under 3 century Jewish of occupation? Slavic hero Sviatoslav I won freedom for his oppressed people in 965 before helping his Serb brothers in Balkans. If we look at history, people of Jewish faith attacked Russians first and oppressed them with high taxation for 3 centuries. If we are to talk about persecution lets start from the beginning.

Why should I not be in America? My people saved hundreds of American pilots during WWII and our flag flew over the White House in WWI. I don't think you understand that Russians don't hate Americans. Media wants to you to believe otherwise.
